I want to add that the most I paid for my cricut cartridges was $50 (and that was for the paper doll cart that I HAD to have!) You can get carts for around $30 easily. The cricut MB has lots of ladies selling used ones.

I think essentials would be:

Paper cutter
Scissors
Journaling pens
adhesive
cardstock
patterned paper
and a cricut (you can make all of your embellishments and titles with the cricut - each cartridge has 100's of cuts on it as well)

Thanks for all of the tips guys!!! I can't wait to get started!!!

One last question...I promise...well, maybe...

Do you think I should wait until after Christmas to buy supplies? Do they typically go on sale then or are the pre-Christmas sales the best time?

TIA

Sales go on all the time. I don't know that there will be any "special" christmas sales for scrapbooking really. (although the cricut expression was just $199 at walmart for black friday) Only buy your stuff on sale! It will always go on sale. Hobby Lobby has their paper packs 50% off very often! If you know anyone in Wisconsin (I am not going to the second sale ) Fiskars is having another warehouse sale this weekend. You could get paper cutters for $3-$10. And they have tons of paper and embellishments CHEAP!

Keep checking here on the board. I think someone posts weekly sales (from Hobby Lobby, Joanns, etc) and any other deals found on the internet.

Joanns is having a Cyber Monday sale today but I havn't checked it out. There might be some great scrapbooking buys there too.

Good luck and if you have more questions ask away!
