My daughter is very artistic, and I thought scrap booking might be fun for her.
She is very into the idea and wants to make a scrapbook of summer 09'.

What should I buy her? must haves ? Good brands ? Best stores to buy things? Any and all good ideas for kid scrappers would be helpful!

I am not a scrap booker so I have NO clue.

This is a project she is going to be working on by herself for the most part. I will help her a little , and I can show her how to do things, its just going to be her summer project , something to do during quiet time and at camp, etc.
I guess she needs some pretty basic , easy to do stuff. Well not too easy , as she can get pretty detailed She could work on one page for days!

I love it that she is so interested in it! Yay!

She doesn't really need much to begin with. I would say choose the size album she wants to do first. For a beginner I would go with 8x8 album. There is also 12x12, 8 1/2 x11 and 6x6. My girls who are 8, 5 and 4 use 8x8.
Go to any of the craft stores or even Walmart and Target and they have paper packs in those sizes with a variety of patterened papers. I would also pick up some solid cardstock for the base. Scissors (or a paper trimmer), Decorative stickers, Alpha stickers for titles and such, adhesive (Glue stick would suffice). Walmart has a pretty good selection of items (at least ours does).
Another good thing would be to maybe buy her a Scrapbooking magazine so that she can get some ideas and inspiration.

Good luck! I bet she will turn out some amazing pages!

Don't forget to make sure the items are acid-free (to preserve your memories). Pens, adhesive, paper, etc.

Check the clearance aisle in your Walmart's craft section. Mine had album in a box kits that included some of the basic things she would need to get started on clearance this week.

I was going to suggest the box kit too. They are usually pretty well priced and have all the basics

At walmart they have kits! They have 8x8 ones which I see everyone recommended already. How exciting that she wants to get into it!

That'll be AWESOME for both you and for her to have when she's 'grown'. My bitty chick started doing some scrapbook pages when she was still four. They are PRICELESS

Enjoy

My DD has been scrapbooking since she was 6. I get her supplies from all over - WalMart and the dollar store being the best. Since I don't scrapbook I started by taking her to demos at craft stores. Sadly they weren't very welcoming which I think was a horrible marketing decision on their part.
