One of my very best friends is a scrapbooker/crop-a-holic and long before I ever got pregnant she talked me into buying the Colorbok Peter Rabbit baby book stuff. I now own two Peter Rabbit Colorbok albums, multiple sheets of the stickers, the die-cuts, the borders (adhesive and non-adhesive), the die-cut frames, the papers and the alphabet.

When my son was born (in 2004) I began tossing "memories" into a large tub so that eventually I could seamlessly put it all together. So, a few months ago I got out some photos, got out the supplies, got out the adhesive squares (UGH), the scissors, etc.

Well, I put it all away after writing the first crooked blurb--my handwriting is terrible! I have zero design skill and I can't bring myself to slice up photos to actually "crop" them.

Walk me through this, ladies. Baby steps. Baby steps.

Try the sketch challenges! Its all laid out for you... you just put YOUR stuff together using the blue print!!! If you really HATE your handwriting.. print it out on the computer. But I think your son would appreciate you hand writing it out.. knowing that HIS MOM wrote it out.. and it came straight from her.. someday.. he'll appreciate the effort.

Just jump in and share your pages! If you have questions don't be afraid to ask, everyone here is very helpful I agree with Ember about the handwriting thing. I don't particulatly care for mine, but I write in my boys' books because it's more personable that way.

The sketches are the best for those with no creativity (like me ). I am just starting also, but find that it is sooo much easier when there is a sketch to follow, and then add what I want to make it my own.

I do some handwriting and some printing on the computer...to mix it up a little. I'm sure you can do it. Like you said, just take baby steps!

I think one of the best ways to get started ( and it is the way I started ) is to do the challenges. I started a few years back with a kit just like you and I found a site like this one that had challenges. I would take a challenge and follow the directions and then make my layouts. ( by the way you will find challenges in the subforum section ) Eventually you will do the layouts and then start to add your own ideas and style. It is so much fun to see my early pages from my first days of scrapping and compare them to how I scrap now. Totaly different but I still love those pages. You just gotta jump in there and start. As for those adhesive blocks, chunk them and get a glue stick, or glue runner, much easier to use!
