I've only been scrapbooking for a few weeks now and I bought a Fiskar's personal trimmer to cut my paper but for some reason it cuts really crooked. Is it how I am using it or is it the brand? I've heard a few other people mention that they have had the same problem. If it is the brand, what are the best trimmers?

I have the Stampin Up Fiskars trimmer and LOVE it. DO you have the grey looking one? Those are kinda flimsy.. I had that problem with that one too. Just remember.. you get what you pay for. Might be worth getting a better one.

My cutter was a big ol pain until I realized that I wasnt lining everything up right. You should make sure the paper is flush with the edge of the trimmer and that you have it on a flat surface like a table or desk. I do find that the more I work with it the better it got.

Yea, I have the orange fiskars trimmer. I bought it at Hobby Lobby for $15. I do try to keep it on a flat surface and as straight as possible but I know more practice will help too. Thank you!!

See I've really been trying to focus on making sure my paper stays straight and it's still coming out crooked. I did two layouts yesterday and one page it is so obvious that the paper is crooked. It is driving me nuts! Where do you get the Stampin' Up cutter?

From a Stampin' Up demonstrator. Go to their website; I'm almost positive that you can put in your zip code and get a list of names. Or if you're close to Ember, get w/her. I don't know how close your cities are in TX.

I have the Fiskars one and I like it for smaller pieces. However, I have a larger one that I found at Aldi's of all places. It has the swing arm on one side for cardstock and whatnot. On the other it has a slide like the Fiskars but also has dimensions on it for all sizes of pictures. AND it was only twenty dollars. I could justify that after seeing how much the others w/swing arms cost. HTH

I have a green trimmer with pink blade from Hobby Lobby that I LOVE. I borrowed my mom's fiskar one when I was in FL last month...and HATED it. I also have a mini paper cutter from Creative Memories that I love.

I have the Making Memories trimmer. I LOVE IT!! I still have my Fiskars trimmer for crops, but I love my MM one. The Fiskars trimmer is a bit flimsy and the cutter does rock when you slide it, so the paper is usually off just a bit.
The MM trimmer is not cheap ($50 but I got it on sale. With shipping, I think I spent $28)
