I have ribbon that I bought from a scrapbook store, but I'm not sure really what to do with it. Any suggestions? How do yall use ribbon on your pages?

I'm not a huge ribbon fan, but it can look great as a part of a background to a page. It makes the page more dimentional if you run a ribbon accross a picture or (as I'm doing on a current layout), lace it through letters.
You could also pick up some Magic Mesh and lace it through that. I LOVE sliders and buckles- those are fantastic, especially when it's something that completely fits the theme of your page.
You might want to look through the layouts to get some ideas. Good luck!

I agree, look through all the layouts in our photo gallery of our pages. I use ribbon all the time. I love it! It is a simple embellishment for me to use!

I havent been a big ribbon fan either but recently I have started using it more but really only on cards. I also will sometimes make a bow and glue that to a page in a scrapbook to give it some dimension and color. Hope this helps and like they said check the layout gallery.

Sliders and buckles are basically the same...you thread your ribbon through them and it makes it look like a belt...like this:
The two silvery looking things are buckles.

Here is a copy of a handout we offered at our charity crop last May:
Tie It Up
by Lindsay Teague (Jul 31, 2004)
Every once in a while a product will come along that changes the world of scrapbooking entirely! Recently, I have noticed that ribbon has become that product. Its everywhere you look, from published layouts to the samples in the local scrapbook store! It seems almost impossible to find a layout that doesn’t have a piece on it somewhere!
In the scrapbooking world, a product can be all the rage one day and quite the opposite the next. There are, however, some exceptions to this rule, like cardstock and patterned paper. I think ribbon might be the next graduate into the “scrapbook hall of fame”. At the recent scrapbook trade shows like HIA and ACCI, the displays were jam packed with ribbon of all shapes, sizes and textures. Even the companies are recognizing the huge market for ribbon.
I think there are 3 reasons that ribbon has become “the next big thing” in scrapbooking: Price, Versatility and Variation. Ribbon has got to be one of the cheapest embellishments you can buy for your scrapbooks. It averages about $1.50 per yard and that can go a long way. If you’ve ever walked into a scrapbook store, then you understand how exciting saving money can be! Not only is it cheap, but it can be used for all kinds of pages, themes and projects. By adding a piece of ribbon to your layout, you can dress it up, dress it down or make it look complete! Ribbon comes in countless colors, sizes and textures. By taking advantage of this, you can make your layouts truly original and 1-of-a-kind!
Here are some ways that you can use ribbon to complete your next project:
• Try taking a piece of thin ribbon and wrapping it around your whole layout or piece of cardstock for an eye-catching embellishment.
• Break out of your box and layer the background of your next page with ribbon as a replacement to patterned paper.
• Tie small pieces of ribbon to other embellishments that you have and give them a whole new flavor!
• Use ribbon in a masculine way by tying it in knots instead of bows.
• Link pieces of cardstock or patterned paper together like a shoelace to add a unique look to your next layout.
• Add the perfect touch to your next baby layout by adding a soft piece of silk ribbon.
• Print a quote, title or journaling on a piece of twill ribbon and stick it on your next project, you’ll love the results!
Whatever you do or however you use it, ribbon will be a product that you’ll love for years to come. Once you start using it, there’s no limit to the ways it will change your pages!
Hope this helps!
Wendy

Wow what a GREAT handout and some new ideas on how to use ribbon in my scrapbook layouts. It is something that I am just starting to get into using. I had quite a bit in my scrapbooking stuff but had really used it until recently and now another addiction has started up!! LOL
