I've had my Wishblade for about a year and I LOVE it. I have hundreds of fonts and shapes to go with it. I haven't had to buy a new blade set or mat yet but probably will soon. I love that I can just type in my title and it will cut it out while I'm working on the rest of the page.
I know the Cricut is very similar, but you have to buy the fonts for it which is why I decided to buy the Wishblade. After spending WAY too much on alpha/shape sets for my Sizzix, I wanted something that was a "one time purchase" with the exception of upkeep (mats and blades).
Another thing to consider is that you have to be hooked up to a computer to use the Wishblade and you don't with the Cricut. This works out fine for me because I have a laptop so it's quite portable.
I have never used the Cricut, but I'm sure it is really great and more affordable than the Wishblade (at least initially).
Hope my input helps! Good luck!!

I have the original sizzix and a cricut. I love them both for different reasons.

I got the sizzix when it first came out, so I have some of the dies and alphabets for it which is why I originally kept it. Then I started cutting chipboard on it (you can only cut thin things on the cricut) and getting the embossing folders for cuttlebug to use as card backgrounds. I love, love, love the embossing folders from cuttlebug.

I love the cricut because I can cut titles out in different sizes and fonts and it does all of the work for me. Just type in the title and press cut and it does it for me. As far as the cartridges go, unless you are a person who has to have everything accessory wise, you will probably find that you don't need that many of them. Each cartridge cuts the fonts in several different ways. You can make it with a shadow, inside a tag, on a tag or upright depending on which cartridge you have. The one cartridge I have I cut a word out 4 different ways, with the same cartridge. Plus they have some words already written or some shapes with the cartridges. There are rumors of being able to connect it to the computer in the future, but who know?? My computer is upstairs and scrapbooking/crafting center is downstairs, so we'll see how that goes if it ever does hook up to the computer.

I think it all depends on what you want it for and what your initial budget is. If it's mostly scrapbooking titles, then I'd go for the cricut. If it is more for cards and craft projects, then maybe the sizzix or cuttlebug.

This is me exactly except that I did not have a Sizzix. I have a Silhouette and LOVE it. But I wanted a Cricut and dh decided that the Silhouette would be more worth it with all of the fonts. I say do some research and compare before you purchase to see what the best fit is for you.

thanks for all the info,,, and yes, for me, it's basically about scrapbooks,, not so much any other sort of craft. Pretty much the only cards made around here are mother's day cards by my teenyboppers, and only one of them does more than fold a sheet of paper! hahaha
