Is it better to use Matte or Glossy pictures for scrapbooking? I'm starting my first scrapbook in over 3 years and I'm wondering which way to go. Is one better than the other or is it just a personal preference?

Honestly I think it's just personal preference There are pro's and con's to each, so I think it's whichever you think is the better/worse of two evils.

Here are some Pros/Cons I found...

Glossy

Pros:
Photos will have a shiny finish.
Colors are vibrant.
Images are crisp and sharp (assuming the original photo was in focus).
Glossy finish does not produce a textured look when scanned and converted to digital.

Cons:
They are highly susceptible to fingerprints and smudges.
To remove fingerprints and smudges, you need to use a photo cloth and/or a liquid solution. Rubbing a photo, no matter how soft the cloth is, can produce scratches.
Glossy photos produce a glare, making them difficult to see from certain angles.

Matte

Pros:
Fingerprints and smudges are not as visible.
Since most professional prints are printed on matte-finish paper, photos printed on matte paper can have a more professional look. This is especially true with black and white photographs.
Glare is significantly reduced with matte-finish prints.

Cons:
The texture of matte finish can make a photo look grainy.
Colors are usually less vibrant on a matte finish.
The texture of a matte-finish print may produce a pattern or visible texture when the photo is scanned or converted to digital

(info taken from Photo Finishes)

HTH!

Oh BTW ~ I tend to be a glossy girl

I think its all Personal prefernce!!

I used to work in a photolab and I have to say a bunch of us did compare the finishes a lot!! and we all decided that matte was betterfor people and glossy looked better for flowers!! This was all just our opinion tho!!

I'm a matte person all the way. I think it makes the color look deeper for some reason - and more professional.

It's definitley personal preference. I think matte looks dull, so I always go with the glossy prints, but it is whatever you like best.

I like matte better then glossy but if I need the pics i a hurry and they only have glossy paper, then I have to deal with it.
