We have another "casting call" for our thrifty moms. I just got this e-mail today:

I'm working on an article proposal for a national woman's magazine on how to save $100 in a month. This magazine did one on how to save $50 last year, and is wanting to do an even more spectacular repeat. If you have ideas, let me know ASAP (I have to turn this in by Thursday 3/1). I'm looking for creative, off-the-wall, and surprising ways of saving money. Here are some examples, and if one of these fits, let me know about that, too:

--Get new life/health/car insurance quotes

--Haggle with companies who compete for your business (like phone, DSL, cable, etc.)

--Do an energy audit and seal the cracks in your house

--Get rid of a monthly expense that you don't really use much (like a cell phone or cable)

--Do a clothes swap with other moms to save $$ on kids' clothing

Any idea you have is welcome! Just email Gretchen@WriteRoberts.com with tips. Please include your full name, city, and state, and if your tip is chosen to be published I'll let you know. Thanks!

Plan your grocery shopping by menus. Only buy what is on the menus, and do your best to plan two full weeks at a time. This way, you stay OUT of the stores longer, thus saving on those "impulse" buys, etc.
(And, do you want me to give this to you or email it to her? You sort of said it both ways, so I wanted to make sure!)
