I was at a mexican restaurant out of state once & liked the sangria & asked the waiter how they made it. He told me it was a mix that the restaurant had, but that his mother's sangria was better (he was from Mexico) and he wrote it down. I made that recipe for parties for years and LOST the stupid recipe!!! I searched on line forever until I found the closest recipe -had most all the ingredients except one, so now I make this one and then just add in some of the last ingredient & everyone loves this.
Sangria
3/4 cup sugar syrup (you cook down equal amounts of sugar and water until it's cooked/sugar dissolved. If you make too much you can use it to sweeten your iced tea).
2 bottles red wine
3/4 cup brandy
1/2 c triple sec
3/4 c orange juice
2 oranges, sliced into rounds
2 apples cored & sliced thin
2 lemons, sliced.
Combine all ingredients in pitcher (I need to use a really large bowl & then pour or ladle into pitchers) & keep in fridge. Leave at least 2 hours before serving. The recipe says it keeps for 2 days but I've had it for up to a week.
Extra ingredient from my original recipe: club soda. I just open a bottle and pour it in.
Enjoy!
