go-gart
ham, turkey or any lunch meat he likes
I sometimes buy the luchables when they are on sale or we make our own
sometimes just cheese and bread

apples, grapes, orange slices, raisins, string cheese (they even have cheese made with cute shapes- or again I will make are own shapes to save $)

Cheese spread on crackers/p.butter spread on crackers

bagels and cream cheese

I look at the food that is pre made and make it myself- it all really depends on what he likes to eat. I thrown a cool pack in his lunch pail to keep things cold. He is young and they still use lunch boxes so I am able to do that and it comes back home.

I think sometimes they do not have to have a sandwich- if they get the nutrients from other sourcers in there lunch.

I will also be interested in what others do smile.gif

I was just getting ready to post this. Thanks! I can't wait for some new ideas. We do either PBJ, or lunch meat and cheese, juicebox or water, pudding, applesauce or jello, and some type of cracker or snack type thing.

his is what I pack for both of them

Always water, piece of fruit, yoghurt, on Friday mini chocolate treat bar. (There is a hugh health thing for school packed lunchs sweets and crisps are usually banned except for a small treat on Fridays or half days)

I would pack a pasta salad, using whatever meat I had, with shredded carrots, pasta, shredded cucumber, and dressing. Add some nuts to it if you children like them.

Rice salad, using same things as pasta salad,

Bread, either rolls, or wraps, or sandwich bread at a push. bagels too
Chicken breast, mayonaise, cherry tomatoes, lettuce.

Cream cheese with smoked salmon
Cream cheese with grilled bacon

cheese sticks with grapes, or apples walnuts, brazil nuts, pecans or almonds

hope that gives you some ideas smile.gif

A friend's little girl had apples with peanut butter to dip in. That is my ds's latest thing now.

i bought a bowl thermous and i send soups alphagetti, and warm stuff. i also send chocolate milk in her thermous, and cheese sandwiches, honey sandwiches, plain jam sandwiches, ham sandwiches garlic sausage and cheese and crackers, yogurt, pudding, cheese sticks (if on sale taht week) homemade cookies, homeamde brownies, fruit snacks, bananas, apples with dipping sauces, oranges, chocolate bar for a treat sometimes, hotdogs (warm up and put in a thermos and wrap the bun in tinfoil send alonga to go package of ketchup.) and sometimes she uses her allowance and orders her lunch at school. oh yeah and fun shaped ritz crackers. some other stuff to just can't think of it right now. when i do i will post it!

also if your school allows peanut butter, then a banana peanut butter wrap. just smear peanut butter on a soft tortilla shell and wrap it around a banana. my dd loves this. and grapes. and granola bars, breakfast bars, fruit roll ups, a meat roll (same as banana wrap but with meat), applesauce. thats all for now

Here are our usuals:

-PB&J
-tuna sandwiches
-any of the following: thin sliced turkey, roast beef or ham on a hoagie roll with a slice of provolone or swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce and mayo...I split this in half and send part with each kid
-dill pickles
-carrots and cucumbers with ranch dressing
-chef salad with dressing in separate container
-macaroni and cheese in thermos...just add a little more water than normal...perfect at lunchtime
-chicken noodle soup
-BLT's
-spaghetti and meatballs...either store bought or homemade
-hot dogs like Kimberley does hers
-all sorts of fresh fruits...today DS took sliced strawberries and kiwi
-crackers with cheese or peanut butter...never chips, banned at school
-homemade goodies
-smoked cocktail weiners...my DS loves them in mac and cheese

That's all I can think of right now! wink.gif

I actually got this idea from another mommysaver tongue.gif If your child can buy milk at school(or I guess you could use a thermos...I tend to worry about it staying cold enough), you can send a bowl & spoon & some cereal in a zipper bag. Ds loves cereal, so we do this alot! I usually send a piece of fruit also.

My daughter will no longer eat jelly, so it is plain Pb sandwiches. She doesn't like dip or salad dressing or cream cheese, or any cheese unless it is on a burger or grilled cheese, and has never been a milk drinker! She gets terrible tummy aches from milk, at age 2 wound up getting an upper GI, we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Tried soy milk, no luck...

Keep the tips coming, we are lunch box challenged here!

I do send ham or turkey, she likes it rolled up, along with those Hawaiian sweet bread dinner size rolls, apple slices, carrots, cucumber, strawberries, yogurt, diced peaches, Mandarin oranges, jello, trail mix (made at home, usually use lots of leftover cereal, nuts, etc), water or juice. Sometimes a hot dog made the same way mentioned earlier.

AND ALWAYS A NOTE FROM MOM! She loves it and it helps her reading skills.

My 4yo dd likes cold chicken nuggets w/ dip & vegies.
Or leftover casserole from dinner in a thermos. ( but right now her preschool will heat up her lunch)

I'm not doing school lunches yet, but I did see something in my Kraft Food Magazine that I thought is neat. It was a picnic idea but would work great in a child's lunch box.

They took pretzel sticks and speared fruit on them(strawberries, bananas, grapes, whatever). Then they had vanilla pudding on the side to dip it in.

we use tortillas in place of bread for alot of things in my house, so we do alot of wraps, also I put Peanut butter on the tortilla. You can either roll or fold in half. I sometimes make the rolls up and cut them into bite size pieces instead of one long roll. I also make my own lunchables.
