I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 16. I had surgery for it and they cauterized what cysts they could, but there were alot they couldn't get that had spread to my back and bowels. Its now almost 20 years later, and its not as painful as it was before kids, but I still have a doozy of a time every month

One big ol' Blessed word, HYSTERECTOMY!!! I suffered from endo for about 15 years. The docs tried everything from caut. the cysts to putting me into full blown menapause(at 27 no less) I just couldn't take it any more. I felt like I was bleeding to death every month. The final straw was when dh came home and found me on the floor beside the bed. I knew my period was coming, I could always feel it coming on, so I made dinner at 2:00 that day, so my 11 year old could heat it up in case dh wasn't home in time for dinner. Anyway, he comes in, takes me to the ER and I had a hysterectomy(full/including ovarie) about 2 weeks later. In the 2 weeks before they had me doped up on morphine. My surgery took 6 1/2 hours! The endo cysts were all over my spine, bladder, gall bladder and appendics. They went ahead and took the g bladder and app. out as well as all of the cysts. My back had hurt so bad for about 10 years and the ortho doc had me on vioxx(before it went off market). They thought what was showing up on the MRI's of my back were bulging discs. Well, the gyn told me it was not the discs, it was huge endo cysts. I have not been on any meds for my back since my hysterectomy. I feel so much better now. I had 2 healthy children and my dh had been snipped, so I didn't care about losing my ovaries. I am on an estrogen patch now and love it. My hormones were so screwed up before, now they are normal. Thats my story!!
Oh, one other thing, there is a website called www.hystersisters.com and they talk about alot of different herbal remedies and alternatives to having a hysterectomy.

Well I finally have a couple of minutes
I have always had Really painful periods and before my periods its insane.. It kept me from school and work a lot and finally I started getting treatments and seeing drs about 5 years ago... After multiple drs and theories they diagnosed me with Endo... Finalyl something that explains the pain i lived in day to day...
after baby 1 i was happy it was a nice pain free few months of pregnant. afterwards OMG it was ####.. and now I am dreading the aftermath of baby 2.. I was supposed to try Depo before i found out i was pregnant but I am scared.. soo i am not sure what to do.. I live on pain pills for a couple of weeks a month.... and more often than not the sex life is on hold when i am in so much pain... its hard to explain to dh that the reason i am a bear a lot is i live in pain so often with endo and the other problems i have associated with it.. Soo its always nice to know there are others and see how they cope and what they have tried/ and what worked and has not
has anyone tried depo? what did you think?

In the 8th grade I bled for 75 days straigh was admitted to ER put on 6 BC a day had sever withdrawls from BC, been on everything imaginable. all the time having these horrid stomach pains, and Crmps that where so bad that NOTHING relieved pain.. at 18 I stopped BC, and I got worse really fast.. I went to 6 different DR.'s trying to figure out what was wrong with me... I even had radation trying to see if my Gallbladder was not working properly...
well DH and I were married 7 months he was over seas in the gulf and I went to OB for cyst in breast, explained all that had been happening he offered to do laprascopy to see if I may have Endo... my sis takes me in, they tell her i would be done in 15 minuts.. well I guess they never came and got her and after repated attempts to find out why I was still in surgery, the nurse came out, told her to call someone that can make medical desisions for me.. My mom showed up, her and I shared same OB, so she new him, he asked if he could give me a full Hysatrectamy, she said NO she could not make that desiosion, I was in surgery 5 1/2 hours.. when i wake up I see her and sis crying I know at this point Im dying of cancer... nope Endo.. not dying but I had it so bad and so much scare tissue my Fallopian tubes were severly damadge, he said i would never conciever or carry to term, I immediatly told DH I wanted divorce, that it was not fare to be married to a broken wife, he stayed with me, but i immediatly started the shots and was forced into Full on Meanapause at 21.. after 6 months they opened me back up to see i had gotten worse, they put me on this horrid pill that i had to take ever 4 hours around the clock, it was the worst part of menapause...
after being off the med. 1 month i got preggo, and then i had Logan... we started trying when he was about 9 months to get preggo again. NOTHING my Ob felt it was time to do a hystarectamy. I said no I was only 25. so I started seeing a homeopathic DR who had me on a remedie and within 3 months I was preggo....
well I have been suffering really bad lately so my New Dr and I discussed treatment options, i told him I was not having a hystarectmie, he agreed and Im on a new treatment, yep back in full on menapause, moodswings, hot flashes you name it...
I will be 30 in 1 month and I just know that I am not ment to be Fixed as you would call it, I know that going from being told I would never have any to having 2 that the lord is not working in my life when it comes to children...
call me dumb, or id denile, but Ive not come to terms to have it done yet....

I'm 22 years old, and I was just diagnosed with Endometriosis a few months ago. I've always had a rough time with my periods, as as they got worse and I developed more problems, I started seeing more and more doctors.
In short, through all of it, I've become less of a supporter of western medicine than I used to be. I'm currently trying to control it with Birth Control, although that isn't working very well. I'm not a big advocate of surgery, or a couple of the other options.
One thing I have done that has helped my overall health tremendously is cut out all toxic household products and eat as naturally and organically as possible. It's minimized my symptoms quite a bit (and I must say, I was really shocked at what chemicals I had sitting in my house!).
Check out http://katiemims.stayinhomeandlovinit.com for some information on those chemicals.
What I'm starting next week is supervised gyrotonics with a physical therapist, and an ayurvedic diet. Has anyone tried either of those?
