I know that I would be healthier if I lost some weight and got in better shape, but I just cannot get myself motivated to do anything!!! I work physically demanding jobs and spend most of my time on my feet. I have a real weakness for eating whatever I feel like. I like to justify since people tell me I look good for having 7 kids and I know I look about 10 years (at least) younger than I am. Plus I like sitting on my butt in front of the computer too much!

How do I get myself going? What got you guys motivated to get in shape?

I could ask you the same thing. I think you have PLENTY of motivation. Girl, you are working three jobs, raising seven children, one grand baby, keeping up wtih mommysavers, and a wife to your dh. And didn't I hear you are trying to sell your house and move, all the while taking your kids here there and everwhere they need to be? I mean, if that isn't motivation.........I'm just exhausted from reading your posts!

The only thing I can suggest to you is to have, on hand, heathier snacking options. People always complain about their horrible eating habits, yet they are the ones buying the groceries!!!! I usually stock up on baby carrots for snacking and make up a dip using sour cream and ranch dressing mix. I always have cut up celery stix and peanut butter!! AND my weakness is sweet and salty peanut butter bars by Nature Valley. They can be my chocolate substitute

Instead of potato chips, have low fat pop corn. Instead of cookies, have graham cracker snacking stix. Instead of chocolate bars (which to me is VERY hard to do), have strawberries and yogurt or a muti grain toasted english muffin with nutella (my ultimate weakness). ITs' sweet....and better for you. Replace white breads with whole grains. Make the small steps first

Just start stocking your cupboards with better options. As for your meals on the go, try pot luck meals instead. Freeze something. OR maybe buy like lean pockets and take them to work instead of stopping at fast food joints.

As for working out, I have no idea where you would fit it in!!!!! Maybe while at the computer you can sit on a pilates ball instead of an office chair. While watching tv, do squats, lunges, ab crunches, etc. If you have a pet or even if you don't, walk it or your kids at night....after one of your jobs!! Clear your head and get some cardio

Best of luck to you!!!

Christy, I only have 2 jobs now!! I quit one and picked up more hours at the others

I just love chocolate and hate raw veggies and nuts of any kind!

I know I am already active, but it just doesn't seem to be enough. I rarely eat fast food since there really is none in my little town . (I eat McDonalds every Thurs when we go to TaeKwando, but I usually get a cheesburger and a yogurt parfait). I really need to do extra exercise. I don't know!!!

What helped me is knowing with my family history, I already have few strikes against me. My Father died young and I want to be here for my ds. Exercise is often presented as something to when you have time in our society but it is essential to the body. We are programmed to be cogs in the engine of our economy but all we get from that is worn out and stressed out. Stress relief, fatigue, weight issues and all the problems that go along with these can be combatted by exercise. Sure at first you do have to be a Nike ad and JUST DO IT but before you know it you'll see the difference in how you feel and your mood. In a few weeks you'll start to trim up and that will serve as motivation too. Start small with 15 minute walks and be consistent(my biggest hurdle). Move on to a longer routine when that gets easier. You gotta nuture yourself too.
