my goals are the following:

1) lose at least 20 lbs
2) tone up the following areas of my body- arms, stomach, hips and thighs (still working on those dreaded love handles and muffin top (it is no longer a dunlap- you know my stomach dun lapped my jeans !)
3) Incorporate healthier foods in my families diet- I am doing so much better with myself now I got to get dh on board!
4) run a 5k- which is a scary thought- BUT I AM GOING TO DO THIS!
5) pay more attention to my body- as in paying attention to health concerns- notice how I feel when I eat certain things, self breast exams (I am horrible with these!), just in general make my health more of a priority!

I have two.

1. Quit smoking
2. Lose weight

I think the weight loss is going to be the toughest because I am going to quit smoking no matter what. I will be using the Chantix and I know it works so that will be fairly easy but I will gain weight with that quit.

I am not sure I will get much weight loss (because of quitting smoking) but I would like to at least keep it under control if not lose at least a few pounds. I would be happy with 10 lbs although going for much more.

My goals have been pretty standard each year but I think this year I am beefing them up a bit:

1) run and complete a 10K with out dying
2) try something different: belly dancing, kick boxing, cycling
3) DRINK MORE WATER (and carry it with me more often)
4) meditate or at least try to a few times

1. lose 30 pounds immediately, hopefully this will help with TTC #2

2. continue race walking 5k's and working back up to race walking a half marathon (it's been almost a year since my last one and I'm out of shape!) 5k's are fun because we go as a family with ds in the stroller.

3. focus on my keeping my blood pressure under control. When I was pregnant with ds, I was borderline preeclamptic, I don't want to increase the chances of this happening again by being careless and not paying attention.

4. keep activity part of my daily life-walking the dog in the morning, running around with ds at his actvities and outside, going for a walk as a family after dinner, riding the recumbant bike 3x/week, doing leg lifts, strecthes, etc every night

5. be a good role model for ds on how to live a healthy life--we already eat very healthy and I would like to show him that being active is just as important.

edited to add: I need to drink more water too!!! Does Pellegrino count?

1. Eat healthier. Frequent, small meals, lots of water. LESS bread. I have serious bread issues. More fruits and definitely more veggies.
2. Exercise 5-6 days a week.
4. To feel the way you feel when you know you are healthy and strong.
5. Improve my times with running.
6. Be a good example of healthy living for my girls.

Great goals ladies!

Here are mine.

1) Drink 8 glasses of water every day.
2) Take in lots of anti-oxidants. (green tea, red tea, pomegranate juice, etc).
3) Participate in a 5K run / walk
4) Get a proper diagnosis. Something is wrong with me and I need to figure out what. I finally have an appointment for an upper GI xray, an ultrasound and a gastric scope but not until Feb 5th. I hope they can find the cause of my constant stomach pain and if not .. I'm not giving up and just accept this (which I would normally do). I'm going to get some answers once and for all this year.
5) Get within the normal range for my BMI (I'm nearly there).

Good thread!

1. Lose the last of my weight, which for me realistically would be about 20 lbs. (this would still be heavy for my height but in the normal range.)

2. Make it to Jazzercise at least 5 classes a week and hopefully more like 8. I also want to participate in more of our strength training classes.

3. Food log religiously and not be lazy about it.

1. Lose 50 lbs, why because I am fat.
2. Find a good diet and stick with it. Gonna give the South Beach diet a try
3. Cut down on drinking pop start to drink more water
4. Save up money for a membership at my local rec.
5. keep food journal

My goals for 2008:

1) lose 5 more pounds
2) continue to define my muscles through strength training
3) improve my clean eating -- more fruits & veggies, less processed
4) continue to find ways for all of us as a family to incorporate exercise
5) stretch every day -- this is a big problem for me. I need to increase my flexibility

Is this the year you and I are going to do this? We're emphasizing RUN not the walk part right?

Are you going back up to the TI region again? I am hopeful that we swing a trip up north again this year.
