My husband,, who is a juvenile diabetic decides to lose wait and get active to help bring his hemoglobin down. So last year we began a journey to eating healthy and exercising on a limited budget. My husband has lost 40 pounds. I'm so proud of him:love: The challenge for me has been to consistently exercise every day. So I'm starting out late here.( middle of the month ) but want to commit to getting on that stinkin treadmill for twenty min a day and doing pilates for twenty min. So here it goes. Off to exersise

Don't underestimate weights. Women often think that lifting weights will make them big. I don't know about you but I could never lift what the men do so you don't have to worry about being big like one. The more muscle you can get, the faster your metabolism is working for you, even while you sleep!
Also, drink lots and lots of water. It is important for your body, and it helps keep hunger at bay.
I am a want-to-be nutritionist and a huge health advocate in my own way. I would love to help with suggestions if anyone is interested.

i am also trying to lose that baby fat, gosh, i am 17 yrs. old, and it sucks seeing all these girls that are thinner than me, but i keep reminding myself that i just had a baby. My fiance says i look great, but to me I don't feel so sexy. I used to be 190 lbs, and I worked my butt off losing weight, then I got pregnant, and it seemed just to come back. But this time around it seems like it is harder to lose. I am 5'1 @ 145lbs. I diet good, i walk 2x's a week. and i havnt lost any yet. Any more tips? greatly Appriecated.

Daily exercise is a great goal! The great thing about working out is when it becomes a habit and you feel bad for not doing it. That is how you know that working out is essentially good for you on many levels.

Doing cardio is great for your heart. But you also need to incorporate some strength training (weight training) in order to see more toned muscles and more weight loss. Also, you need to change up your routine every few months to keep your body working hard. Aftre a while your body gets accustomed to the same workout and doesn't burn as much energy and fat.

So if you like Pilates, switch to a low impact aerobics class with weights or a yoga class for a couple of months and then switch back.

And for those afraid of getting too bulky with weights...when I was in really good shape (about 2 years ago before I got pg with DD), I was able to bench press 85 lbs for 12 reps., 90 for 10 reps, 95 for 8 reps., and 95 for 6 reps all in a 15 minute period. I was also able to biceps curl 15lbs for 12 reps., 20 lbs for 10 and 8 reps, and 25 lbs for 6 reps. all in a 15 minute period. And I was toned, but not bulky. I am 5'7 and was about 165 at the time. I also did Pilates or yoga twice a week and did a combo of strength training and cardio (either the elliptor or bike) 3 times a week.

Now I am slowly getting back onto the work out wagon. I have been trying to train to run a marathon for the last two months. But with sickness in the family and minor injuries...the trainng has been slow. I'd say I have run a total of 4 weeks, 3 times a week inconsistently. But the goal is still there. It will just take me longer to get there. And once DD's nap schedule changes to nap later in the mornings, I will be hitting the gym for some classes again. I soooooooo want to get back into the yoga classes. Unfortunately they are offered during DD's naptime in the morning.
