I sure have! When it comes to freebies like that, I always like to think of creative ways to turn them into something I can really use. So, with some of our favorite Florida vacation photos, my daughter and I made custome photo placemats to give Grandma and Grandpa.

Here are some pictures:





We cut a piece of tagboard into large rectangles (14 x 20), using a placemat we already had as a guideline. Then, my daughter arranged beach photos from our Florida vacation on them and glued them down with a gluestick.

To finish, I took them to Kinkos to have them laminated. The cost was $3.00/sq. foot. The large placemats I made came out to be $6/each, but if we had made smaller kid-sized ones they would have cost in the $4.50 range. That was definitely our main expense. If you have access to a laminator at work or school, they'd be practically free!

If I made them again, I'd do reversible ones with different themes on each side. You can also embellish with stickers, artwork, or get creative with other fun stuff. We like them so much we may make another set for our own family to keep.

I hit my local Target store this morning because I knew they'd be marking their Halloween merchandise down to 75% off.

Typically, Target holiday markdowns (except Christmas) follow a 3-2-2 schedule. It goes to 50% off on November first, then three days later 75%. Again, three days after that what's left is 90% off. Two days after that it goes to salvage (Goodwill).

November 1st - 50% off
November 4th - 75% off
November 7th - 90% off

If you can't hit the store, many of their costumes are 50% off online.

Be sure to print out their in-store candy coupons to save even more!

Here's Our Moderator Review: My kids and I recently tried two different kinds of the Sara Lee bagels, blueberry and wheat. The kids enjoyed the blueberry ones, then handed me the wheat ones after they had taken a bite. I really enjoyed the wheat ones, and am anxious to try their cinnamon flavored bagels too.
What the kids liked about them is that they were little -- perfect for a snack or their lunchbox. I myself prefer a bigger bagel. I did like that they were low fat, and also filling at the same time. But with only 12 in a bag, between me and my 3 kids, they went quickly. – Moderator Missystuy
