I have always liked e.e. cummings and William Carlos Williams. For a while I liked Gwendolyn Brooks and Slyvia Plath (teenage angst phase maybe?). Williams Carlos Williams is my absolute favorite, although Shel Silverstein is a lot of fun. We have 3 of his books and my kids love reading them.

Uncle Shel IS fun. M'ija still has her Shel Silverstein books from when she was a child, and plans to pass them on, along with her collection of Dr. Suess and Byrd Baylor, to her kids if she ever decides to have any. (Not that I'm in any big hurry for that to happen - I'd rather she wait at least until her mid-twenties to start).
