I just finished Little Bitty Lies mentioned earlier and also read "last chance cafe" in a day. i enjoyed both of them and got their titles from different threads on this board. now i'm starting Lisey's Story by Stephen King but if you're not into the gore - I'm not sure what this book has in store for me. I just bought it because I love his work - we'll see if this follow suit. Happy Reading!

Was it "Last Chance Cafe" by Linda Lael Miller? I really liked that book too! Did you know they made a tv movie version of the book for the Lifetime network? Nora Roberts's " Montana Sky" and "Angels fall" and one other of hers that i cannot think of right now, were also made into movies for Lifetime. I really enjoyed Montana Sky, but didn't watch the other 2.

Does anyone have any suggestions on some good reads? I like John Grisham. I have not read any of Nicholas Sparks books but I saw "The Notebook" and I do not like scary or gory books. Mysteries are good. I like good page turners. Love stories, christian books, anything to get my brain stimulated. I used to read a lot & then I had kids. Now all I read is Goodnight Moon & Fancy Nancy.
I hear you on fancy nancy... It's a great book for girls 4-8, however everyday, day after day.... I too am looking for good page turner mommy books

Have you read:

Flirting with Forty by Jane Porter
The redemption series (5 books) by Karen Kingsbury

Beware of Flirting with Forty.. I couldn't put it down.. Heck with the housework, I finished it in 2 days...

I HIGHLY recommend you read The Notebook, it was 1000x better than the movie! One of my all time favorites.

I love this series. My mom just gave me Lean Mean Thirteen, but I haven't cracked it yet. I think I read books 1-12 in about a 6 week time frame. I just could not put them down!

If you are looking for a good read, I recommend A Thousand Splendid Suns. It was excellent!

Christine

I LOVE all of her Stephanie Plum series. They are such a fun, easy read.

I just did finish "Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons" by Lorna Landvik and it was really nice. Very easy, very loving. It made me want to live on a street like theirs.

Possible Spoiler for My Sisters Keeper!!!

Something must be wrong with me. I have heard so many people love this book (and sob over it) but I read it this week and was totally bored by it. I was also less than impressed with My Sisters Keeper -- did not cry & sort of saw the ending coming (not how it happened but what did happen). I love to read (LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!) so even if I don't like your selections, please keep them coming. I love to have new books to read.

I wrote about this once before. I LOVED My Sister's Keeper while I was reading the book. The moral dilemma the parent's faced was fascinating to me. I even discussed it every day with my family about "what would you do?". BUT then I HATED the ending. It was just too contrived for me. Too coincidental. In real life that would never have happened. So in some ways even though I enjoyed reading it, once I was done I was very dissatisfied with the book....if that makes any sense.

This is my favorite book I've read in a long time. The subject matter is difficult to read, but it's so enlightening about how people live in other countries and how lucky we are as women here in the USA. I just couldn't imagine some of the things I read. So while it certainly wasn't "light hearted" reading, I just couldn't put it down. I have had Kite Runner here for quite a while (the first book by that author) but haven't had time to read it yet. I hear many people like it even better.
