I'm about half way through (Just got to India) and this is a wonderful book. I'm a big reader. I read all kinds of things from serious philosophy to sci fi. I find the language so far like fine chocolate. Smooth and rich. Reading it is like having a fine meal. I am loving it and it's very pertinent to my life right now. I'm going through all sorts of transition and change. Just moved across the country, had a baby and have the right meds for depression. I'm learning to be a person all over again and she was doing the same thing. I'm in love with this book.

It's about this gal who travels to Italy, India and Indonesia...and her thoughts about the people, the places etc I found the author whiney, self absorbed and just unlikeable. I didn't find her insightful at all. It is an easy, quick read, so you're not out much time if you read it. I'm really glad I didn't put any money down on it though, I got it from the library.

I tend to agree with you. My friend gave me her copy after book club and she said it wasn't really liked that much by her club. She also gave me Water for Elephants and said the same thing but I haven't read that yet.

I just couldn't get into it. I saw her on Oprah and she sounded interesting but the book was just not my thing I guess. Maybe I just don't understand her. I liked hearing her stories about Italy and eating, but then when she went to India and it didn't involve food I couldn't get interested. Maybe thats my problem! lol I need to hear about food!

I loved the book. I had to wait for about a month on the waiting list for it at the library, but it was worth it.

Aliadam I agree with you about Water for Elephants, wow, I can't imagine anyone not liking that! To each their own, right??

I wanted to say one thing about Eat, Pray Love though....and put it here, because I don't want to take away from any discussion threads that Christy will start in Soul Seaching...

Am I the only one who was UPSET about her illegally extending her visa in Bali?? The book was great, but that one part bothered me tremendously!! You are on a spiritual journey but you have no problem doing something illegal?? And something that we have a problem with here in America???

Ok, I just had to get that off my chest!!
