Do you pick them based on Author? Personal recommendations? Number in a series? Mood? Time restrictions?
Or just whatever you grab off the shelf?

I have so many paperback books underneath my bed in storage totes and plan to get to them, then i get sidetracked when i see a Doubleday bookclub or other simular bookclub catalogs and start reading the "blurbs" and before you know it i am writing them down to look for at the library. Or i read a review in a magazine(usually People magazine) and then i am again on the hunt at our library for those books that sound so good.

when i am ready for a new really good book i always go to Oprah and check out her book club list and see what she says. Then I always check the Bestsellers list. Then i will narrow it down to about 2 maybe 3..go to the library and check them out if it is in.

I often go to Amazon.com to look at the reviews. I love the ametuer slueth novels, so I am always looking for those series. I prefer them in series, so i find them, then see if the library has them.

If I don't go to the library with a list, then I just start wandering the fiction section and see what hits me in the face. Plus, our library has a great bulletin board in the fiction room that has different themes each month. They pick a category (mystery, romance, etc.) then list some of the best. Or they do a librarians choice, and each librarian lists his/her favorites. So sometimes I pick off of those lists!
