Do you read self help books?? Is there one that is your favorite??

I like Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, The Five Love Languages, and my new favorite Codependent No More.

Anyone else have a good "self help" book suggestion??

(this is NOT for me, just a topic starter)

I love that kind of thing. I like the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" and books like that. I recently read The Law of Attraction by ??? and it was good too.

Wow you know, that might be my new bible too...

The Five Love Languages used to be, but I may be switching over. I loved that book...it was a HUGE eye opener for me. HUGE. I will have to look into Beyond Codependancy.

Good stuff!!

I got the Five Love Languages when I was having marital problems in my first marriage...it didn't help, but there's not much that can help someone with serious addiction problems. That marriage didn't last a year, thank god. I need to go through the book again with my "soon-to-be" DH (shh...we are having a teeny wedding Saturday - only parents, and about 4 very close friends). We have a wonderful relationship, but I'd like to keep making sure it stays that way.

I also have and am going to re-read (again) The Proper Care and Feeding of a Husband - the Dr. Laura one. I can't stand some of her stuff, but I do like the book, and what I do remember from it and put into use, the *almost*DH responds VERY well to.

I just read Who Moved My Cheese, and I liked that a lot. Fast read, and good thoughts. With all the changes around here, it's been very helpful.

I've read a friend's Dave Ramsey book, and need to just get off my duff and buy it. I've read one of the Rich Dad/Poor Dad books, and didn't care for it at all.

I'm not sure if it's a "self-help" book, but I still read my daily reader from Al-Anon (Courage to Change). That one always helps me.

Booker81 congrats on the upcoming wedding!!!! You're getting married on a great day... my birthday!!!

Not sure if this is considered self help, but i have read "The Thyroid Solution, A Mind-Body Program for Beating Depression and Regaining Your Emotional and Physical Health" by Ridha Arem M.D.........I should say i am still slowly reading it, i get sidetracked with other books, but i hope to finish it soon. I do know it's very helpful to know that by reading some of the stories from various Thyroid patients that i am not alone.
