I would have to say Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte is the first book I ever read, and couldn't wait to read it again. That was until I read Jane Eyre. I can't really put a finger on it as to why these books made such an impression on me, but I can't wait to introduce Sarah to the books when she's old enough. She's already watched bits and pieces of the most recent production of Jane Eyre with me, and asks a lot of questions about it. lol The other book that comes to mind, and one that I've just read for the 1st time (shhh...don't tell my 11th grade English teacher...LOL) is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I read that book in 3 days...I just couldn't put it down, and luckily it's not a very long book, so my house didn't suffer too badly.

I'm pretty "classic" - the two books that are the most "hoarded" that are carefully checked and carefully packed and unpacked...

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

I need to get both "new" - I think I want to splurge and find some sort of well bound hardback. Both are missing the covers now - I usually read both about once a year - and I've had them for at least 10 years. Two very opposite views on society, that hopefully keep me in the middle

Flowers for Algernon because it was the first book to get me "hooked" on reading when I was in the 8th grade. It was later made into a movie called Charlie. It is about a retarded man.

The Five People You meet in Heaven. It's about a gentleman that works the carnival on the pier. I work as a carnie sometimes, so it has true meaning, but it also has a lesson for everyone. Awesome book.

I read this book when I was young and I LOVED it!

I have "My Sister's Keeper" but could never really get into it. I keep hoping to get back to it eventually, and start over to see if I can get into it. Did you have this problem?!

Two other books that I absolutely love are both written by Sue Monk Kidd: The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair. I actually liked "Bees" a lot more than the Mermaid Chair.

Mine has always been "Like Water For Chocolate" by Laura Esquivel. I've read this book about five times. And can still read it again.

Out of Africa -- Isak Dinesan

The movie is a love story and I liked it but the book ... it was a lot more. The love story is there but that isn't what it is about.

The first time I read that book, I quit my job, moved to another town, and started dating my husband all within two months of that book. I'm almost afraid to read it again!
