Another favorite of mine was VC Andrews. Her stories were really dark, lots of incest :eyeroll: but they were very well written. I remember the first time I read Flowers in the Attic, I couldn't put it down. I stayed up the WHOLE night till it was done.

Prince Edward Island (Canada) - I believe it's where all the Anne of Green Gables books were based.

I liked the Little House books (but not the TV show ), Encyclopedia Brown books, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Judy Blume books, especially Are You There God, Its Me Margaret. As I got into high school, I read all the Danielle Steele books. I hated anything that was considered a classic.

Dr Suess were my favorite beginner books. Little House & The Bobbsey twins. They were books my Grandmother gave me. I have a rubbermaid bin full that I'm waiting to share with my girls.

Oh wow this thread is totally taking me back!! Now I want to go to the library and reread them all!

Babysitters Club
Nancy Drew
A Wrinkle in Time, a Wind in the Door, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet
A Little Princess
Little Women and Little Men

I could go on and on. I was a voracious reader. I, too, had a surprised 4th grade teacher when it came to doing a book report... I read Heidi!
