I was just thinking about some of my favorite books as a kid and I can almost remember what grade I was in when I was reading that book. Almost!

4th grade - Where the Red Fern Grows
5th grade - Little House on the Prairie series
6th grade - Lord of the Ring series

It all gets a little fuzzy after that. Middle school years!

Black Beauty -- I would finish it, close the cover, and start back at the beginning! By 6th grade, I had read every dog and horse book in the library!

It was 7th and 8th grade when I read the Lord of the Rings series. I would still like to live in a hobbit house!

To Kill A Mockingbird -- I remember feeling like I knew the child who was telling the story.

I remember loving anything Judy Blume or Beverly Cleary. I also remember the Black Beauty books - those were great.

"The Little Princess" and "The Secret Garden" were also favorites as well as "Island of the Blue Dolphin". I read a ton as a kid.

I loved the Sweet Valley High series and Nancy Drew. And anything Beverly Clearly and Judy Blume. I got into Danielle Steele while in late high school. But my all time favorite book is still "The Pokey Little Puppy"

It seems that Claire and I DO have something in common! I have probably read The Little Princess about 40 times. 37 of which by the time I was 13. I also liked Secret Garden & Island of the Blue Dolphin as well.

Favorite books when I was younger: Where the Wild Things Are, Harold and the Purple Crayon.

Chronicles of Narnia.

All-time favorite book, since I first read it in 9th grade - Watership Down. I'm on my at least 4th copy. I've read it maybe 10x.

Little Women - I remember in fourth grade I wanted to do a book report on Little Women and the teacher said it was too long for me to read. My mom called her up that afternoon and explained I had already read it twice and yes, I would be doing my book report on that book.

I have probably read that book 15 times in my life and I am about due for another reading.

I also LOVED the Hardy Boys when I was a kid - never really got into Nancy Drew, but I used to bring home stacks of Hardy Boys books from the library every week.

I have heard that Watership down is good, and I plan to get it someday.
I was a book reading fiend all my life. Favorite? There have been many.
The Little House books, Lion the Witch and the wardrobe, Ramona the Pest books, Sweet Valley Twins. When I was very young I had a Rageddy Ann and Andy Book, Never Talk to Strangers, Best Loved Nursery Rhymes by Parents Magazine, My Little Golden Book about God(and a lot of other Little Golden books), A to Z by Gyo Fujikawa(sp), Katy No Pocket, and so many others.
So far I have hunted down a couple of my favorites for my 3 yr old. I have Katy No Pocket, and Best Loved Nursery Rhymes. I plan to get a bunch of Gyo Fujikawa books as soon as I can.

Sweet Pickles books that I loved. Then when
I was a little bit older I loved the Little House
on the Prarie books, actually I still do!

Oh yes, how could I forget Sweet Pickles. I have recently bought a few of those too for my little one. She likes me to name every animal before we read the book. And then we have to go through the town at the end of the book and name all the houses and stores.
