Try to read it during the day. I read it when I was working evening shift as a nurse, and so it would be really late at night and I was SCARED TO DEATH!!!!! Like I said....you won't be able to look at a window. But if you like creepy & scary, then this is it!

I love scary but not gory books! My #1 scary book was "Harvest Home" - I'm not sure of the author. They did make it into a movie (Bette Davis was in it) and that was very good too but not as good as the book.

A few years ago I read (I think this was the name) "The Association" or "Homeowners Association" by Bentley Little. It started out really good, but then got weirder and weirder. The very condensed version is that a housing development has a homeowners association and if you don't do exactly what they tell you, eventually they take off all your limbs until you are just a torso, bumbling around the ground. Yick it really gave me the creeps but not in a good way, it was more sickening than anything else. It really wasn't scary as in creepy but in gory which I don't like.

The Dreams of Ada. It is a true murder story that happened in the town I attended college in and I read it while living alone in college. I was stupid!

I agree with melsb.

Dracula creeped me out--especially when he crawled like a roach thing. yuck!

In graduate school a Ph.D. student refused to finish it because she was so ooked out by it. I admired her guts for that one.
