I've been a part of one for almost 5 years. It's a great group. There are 12 of us, we each take turns hosting at our house each month and making munchies to share. The person who is hosting gets to choose the book. We have a really diverse bunch, so everyone has very different viewpoints. I love it! Anyone else in a book club? How does yours work?

This exactly describes my one book club...except we're not all that diverse. LOL! There are 18 of us...we're all women, we're all married w/kids...only two work outside the home. We all had our kids in the same school, went to the same pool etc for many, many years. Now some of us have changed schools, moved but we still get together. It's super fun. The only downside is I am one of the people that moved out of the immediate area, so it's a little bit of a drive for me. It's usually on a weekday night, and I really don't like driving when I'm tired, at night etc Dh really encourages me to go, because one thing I was really sad about moving to our new house, was possibly losing touch with this group of gals. One time he really knew I wanted to go and couldn't because I was having trouble with one of my contacts, so he got me car service so I could go! He's such a good guy!

The other one I belong to is thru my local library branch and it's a mystery book club. We meet every 6 weeks. We have a "leader" and she chooses the books. It's a really diverse group of young/old, male/female...

My husband and I are starting a book club this month. We'll see how it goes. It is more of a historical book club and the people involved are a lot older than my husband and myself. I am a little intimidated as some of these people are very well advanced in their professions and, by all appearances, come across as very smart!

I would also love to join, or start, a book club that was a more female friendly. Let's see how this one goes and maybe next winter!

I just started one with some of the other Mom's in the neighborhood. We just finished our first book and the discussion is planned for next week. We are meeting at a coffee shop. Should be fun. We are going to iron out all of the details then, as we have not been together as a group yet. I am really looking forward to this!!

I went to my first book club meeting tonight and I had a blast. It's all women and they are all old enough to be my mother or grandmother. It was nice to be out of the house for an hour and a half without my kids, lol.
