I just finished If I am Missing or Dead by Janine Latus. What I thought was a book about the author's sister's murder, was just about the author's life and then the death of her sister.
I was so disappointed in this book. I just felt like the author was making everything in life, including her sister's murder, all about herself. At the end she is crying about getting beat up by her boyfriend 20 years (or so) earlier.
The only thing I can think is that she was gearing this book towards other abused women to know that they are not alone and to show that if she and her sister had just asked for help, people would have helped them. I am sure I would have looked at it differently if I had been an abused woman.
I also had a really hard time getting into the writing style.
