Probably a goofy thread. But here goes. What does everyone do for breakfasts during the school year?? Mornings are hecktic and I wont be stopping and making huge meals. I have two going to school, but different schools and one only school provides breakfast, so we will be doing all breakfasts at home. I am looking for quick HEALTHY meals. I dont think a pop tart or cereal bar and milk is healthy enough for little kids. JMO Any tips on anything that you pre-prepare for meals? I know I do make breakfast burrittos in advance and freeze them for breakfasts.

Quick list of breakfast stuff:
Cold cereal-not a huge fan of.
Oatmeal
Breakfast Hot pockets
Frozen waffles or french toast (store bought-dont have a waffle maker yet)
Frozen homemade oatmeal pancakes
Muffins
breakfast sandwiches
eggs and toast
yogurt and fruit

We don't have a lot of variety for breakfast, my kids eat a variety of cold cereals and then they usually have a piece of fruit. My younger son likes yogurt, so sometimes he'll have that...that's just what we do. I don't buy any poptarts or cereal bars or anything like that, they're just full of junk.

Neither of my kids like eggs or hot cereal. I only make homemade pancakes, french toast and waffles and I only do that on the weekends.

I would love to serve the good old fashioned American Breakfast a la June Cleaver before Wally and the Beav head off to school but I run out of time in the morning! I usually save the big breakfast for the weekend, but I tend to use the same things you ladies do during the week...oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, egg wraps, pancakes, etc..... I'm going to check out Mommy2Mercedes egg mcmuffin!!!

in the morning...when you're tired every step counts...it only takes a couple minutes the night before to prepare.......

have the coffee pot ready to go...all ya gotta do is push start (have the sugar and your cup and spoon ready also)
set the table the night before...bowls,spoons,napkins,cups(vitamins set at each place setting)
put the plug in your sink and a squirt of soap.

when you walk in the next morning...all you gotta do is push start, turn on the water, and wait for the kids.......

you have a cup of coffee in hand and are ready to clean up before the kids even start

COOL

another thing to keep in mind to make and freeze are the classic breakfast burritos!

and also most breakfast casseroles can be made the night ahead(when you start feeling guilty about cold cereals )if you dont need a 9x13 casserole....1/2 it and bake in a smaller pan and cut cook time.

Yup, I am making a batch of breakfast burritos this weekend. Got it all figuerd out; scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, crumbed up bacon and cheese. I will make at least a dozen, probably more so i dont have to do it again for a while.

Great idea on the 1/2ing of a breakfast casserole recipe. I really like that idea. Thanks so much!

My kids also like mini bagels with peanut butter on them. My dd will sometimes just eat fruit or have yogurt with a crunchy type cereal mixed in (think Kashi).
