I am latex sensitive. I have never had a major problem, but I can't use condoms, use latex gloves, have bandaids on for long, etc. Well, on the list of flu shot questions, one thing they ask is if you have a latex allergy. I said no. Well, my arm, where I got the shot, is HUGE....swollen, red, hot to touch, and both extremely sore AND itchy. It has now been three days, too!! I called...and guess what...ALL flu shot vaccines are in a glass bottle with a LATEX stopper...and I am reacting to the STOPPER not the shot!!! So, for now on, it is the flu MIST for me..and I thought I should pass on the warning to all of you!!! This stinks!!!

Thanks for the warning, I'm latex sensitive also and I was going to get a flu shot, guess not. Blessed_with_6 did you know know that they make condoms out of something besides latex, silicone come to mind but I know that's not it something else? Don;t know if you still need them or not but they are out there.

We did use them a few times...but they are expensive and have no "stretch". LOL I had an IUD put in instead...so now we don't have to worry about it at all. Thanks, though...it did take us a while to find that out before!!!

Oh my goodness! I have never heard of that and thank you for letting us know. I have a reaction to latex on my skin - not latex gloves, but bandaids, bandages, tapes (the IVs make me swell horribly from the tape). And I thought I hated condoms due to the friction. I never thought about the latex bothering me. Thanks for the education.

I believe the condoms that aren't latex are made of polyurethane.

There are also "sheep skin" condoms, but they're actually made out of animal intestines. Kinda gross, huh?
