Hi ladies! Well I had an EKG today that yielded nothing, but then my doctor told me it really didn't mean anything because she really needed to do the test when I was having the pain, not two days afterward. She gave me strict orders to go to the ER if it happens again.

She give me a script for a stress test, they are going to call me tomorrow and schdule one. Then I'm going for a cholesterol test probably Thursday or Friday. Ds is sick so it won't be tomorrow like I wanted do but what can you do? Then I'm to go back in 3 weeks to go over the results of the tests.

She also gave me a prescription for Prilosec (sp?) because she thinks I might have acid reflux and that's what the pain way. Hmmmmm. Okay, I guess it could happen. But I am VERY wary about going on a prescription for something I don't really think I have. I mean, can't I just take a Mallox or Tums? I feel kind of like I don't want to take unnecessary meds when it wasn't even proven that's what I have. KWIM? What do you think? I might look up the side effects, if there is nothing undesirable, fill the script and take it until my appt. and then take myself off it. I mean I didn't have an upper GI taken and haven't had this pain frequently, I just don't feel justified taking a prescription. My dh calls dr's. pill happy and I'm starting to agree with him.

Anyway, thanks so much for all the prayers and thoughts. I won't know anything until I get some other tests done, but at least they do have a baseline EKG to start with.

As long as you are having the tests, I would go ahead and try the reflux medicine. I know that a lot of times people with heart problems think it is reflux, so it makes sense that people with reflux might think it is their heart!! Glad that, for now things are okay. Let us know about the other tests!

Glad to hear so far it's no bad news, although I'm sure you'll be relieved once you get all the results back. As far as the acid reflux thing....that IS possible. I had a friend who went to the ER several times thinking she was having a heart attack and it ended up it was acid reflux. Hope you get answers soon.

Is Prilosec one of those ones that take a couple of weeks to work? If not, can you just take it when you feel the chest pressure? I'm glad the EKG turned out OK.

I'm glad you're feeling better and so far your tests have came back good! My mom went to the hospital last year thinking she was having a heart attack, and it was acid reflux. She was put on medicine and has been fine ever since! I hope your stress test turns out okay!

I agree with the others, you should try the prescriptions. See if you notice any changes after taking it for awhile. Process of elimination you know what I mean?
