I got Matt an XM radio. Do I need to get anything else with it in order for him to get satellite radio? I got it on the spur of the moment and probably should have researched it a little more. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Is it for the car or the house? Did it come with a car antenna? Do you have a house adapter? My dh has XM for his long commute, but he is trading it for Sirrus at the beginning of the new year since Sirrus will be carrying NASCAR next year and that is is favorite.

Okay, it is for his car and has an antenna. It says that it comes with everything needed to get it up and running as soon as it is out of the box. I didn't know if we have to pay for a subscription or something. I'm so not up on all the new technology.

Oh, I am sure there is a subscription. My dh had it set up to automatically come off the Visa. I would look it up on the web. I will ask dh about it

I just saw in my local paper about HD radio. the services are FREE, but you still have to buy the radio. Here's the link. I was thinking of geting it, but have been to busy to get to store.

If I'm not mistaken they offer a discount if you pay for a year in advance---something like $100/year.
XM radio came with our car and we love it. It's especially nice for long trips. I would love to have an XM radio for the house.

Call 1-800-XM-RADIO or go to xmradio.com to activate. They'll send out the signal to activate and tell you everything to do. My mom has it and pays by the year. It's $12.00 a month for the 1st and $7.00 a month for any additional. Mine is added on her account for the 7.00 a month. I absoulutely love it. You put it on the dash or console or wherever and then run the antenna wire behind the molding in your car and out the hatch or trunk and it is magnetic to the top of your car. It may seem difficult at 1st, but it's really not.
