I swear, in all my life, I have seen maybe three ticks and two were on an animal (one dog, a dead fox, and one on a little boy but we knocked that one off before it could latch on). EXCEPT this summer I have run into three more - one on a boy at the school right before summer break, one on ME and just now on DD's shoulder. The one on her shoulder was latched on tight and it had little yellow spots!!!

What is it with ticks this year?!?!?! This is too much. Neither me, nor DD nor that boy at school was in any unusual situation that would make us more likely to get ticks. Heck, we were either on the school lawn or in the neighborhood.

Yes, my dog has a brand new flea and tick collar. I'll check him again to make sure he doesn't have any.

If you're in grass then you can get ticks. I think ticks are later than usual this year. they are usually done by now when everyone is out of school.

We're in central KY and the ticks this year started early and are everywhere! My kids can't walk from the car to the house without picking one up. They are bad, bad, bad here this year. Everyone I've talked to said this is the worse they've ever seen.

I haven't seen any so far this year. They are usually really really bad here. I always check the kids when they play outside.

So much for letting DS run around in the grass!! We have deer ticks here.

Now I'm scared. I've never seen one, so I'd have no idea what to do!

this all varies by state/area as well. If you can check your dept of natural resources that may be better. ticks are usually done by late june/july due to the heat. we get deer ticks as well. Deet repels deer ticks as well, so it might be worth using (like sunscreen )if it is bad in your area.
