without dh? I came to my mom's house yesterday with our dog. The cats and dh stayed at home. Actually, dh had to leave at 4:00 this morning and will be gone all day at a high school wrestling tournament. (He's an asst. coach.)
I miss him, but I know that this is something that is good for us. I will return refreshed and ready to be a better wife, a better teacher, and just a better person as we get ready for the hustle and bustle of Christmas.
My dh traveled a lot early in our marriage. Yes, I missed him, but it helped me enjoy me. I cultivated friendships and got stuff done around the house. He usually came back to a clean house and special dinner, etc.
Boy, could I use a weekend away now, without kids!

The Really Needy, Special, Networking and Talking Mod
Most summers I go on a girls trip and it is great (this summer we are going to vegas) On the flip side Dh goes on a golf trip every year in Feb. We both need it.
Every once in awhile I bring the kids down to my Parents (they're 4 hours away) and I spend a night or 2 with out him (2 nights is my max). I enjoy spending the time without him, and I'm sure he enjoys getting the house (and remote control!) to himself!
I enjoy getting a weekend away alone. My best friend and I used to do this at least once a month. I think its a good thing to have time away from each other. We all need some alone time, even the husbands
not for a whole weekend - but he is a basketball coach so he is gone his fair share. He is also good about keeping DS and letting me have occasional sc rapbook or shoping days.
I agree - some me time makes me a better mommy and wife!
We very rarely ever have. However I am sooooo willing to try! I love my husband and kids but I really could use just 1 weekend to myself. Dh went away for a week once for work but I still had the kids so I dont think that counts.
I haven't gone away for a weekend without the kids. I would love to but I would worry to much about youngest dd that I don't think I would enjoy myself. I might try it when she is older. My dh gets away a couple times a year so maybe he will go for it when he thinks he could handle her.
My dh being a firefighter on the weekends, sometimes works Fri 6pm-Sun 6pm, is never home. I hardly ever see him that sometimes when he takes off during the week I get annoyed that he is there because he interrupts my routine . I think a little alone time is needed in every relationship. We do have nights when we will have a "date" night and the kids will go to Grandma and Grandpas house for the night. That always helps just because he is gone so much.
