I've never watched the show but I've heard of them here.
Even if she started having kids in her late teens and had them a year or so apart, she's got to be close to forty by now. A woman's body wasn't meant to pop out that many babies that close together. If I were her, I'd be concerned about possible pregnancy-related mortality about now, as well as birth defects stemming from maternal age issues, and would be telling hubbers to pat it and go to sleep.

I think she's in love with being pregnant and little babies. It's a mental disorder, IMO. She's got a system going. Have a baby, and ones she's done with it, hand it over to the older kids.

She is due in March and her Dr. said she is in perfect health. I believe she is 43. If age is an issue, what about these women having children in their 60's and 70's? I don't think she is to old to be having children. Women in the olden days had their children in their late years. My father was 73 when my sister was born. Is that to old or is that age only to old for women??

Also, at least they keep all of their children and are not depending on welfare to support their kids. They really love all their children. As to having a baby and handing it over to the older ones, I was 8 when my sister was born and I loved holding and caring for my little sister and it wasn't because my mother didn't want to do it. I think this is the case with the Duggars.I personally am happy for the Duggars.

After about 40, the chances of Trisomy 21 (Down's Syndrome) increase dramatically. Most likely something to do with the fact that your eggs are aging and beginning to deteriorate.

Women who get pregnant naturally in their 60's and 70's are extremely rare. Most are menopausal by then. Menopause is nature's way of telling you you're too old to have a baby. The few women that age that I have read about who got pregnant had to do so using fertility drugs, extreme hormone treatments, IVF, etc. in order to basically turn back their biological clock and artificially reverse menopause so that the uterus would be capable of forming a placenta.

You father was 73 when your sister was born, but your father wasn't the one who got pregnant. A 73-year-old woman who got pregnant would not only risk fetal damage from past-their-freshness-date eggs, but also damage to her own body due to the various changes brought on by aging - muscles weaken and bones thin with age, joints stiffen, even in the healthiest elderly person. Add the strain of carrying (not to mention delivering) a baby to a hip joint that's in the early stages of osteoporosis, and you've got a disaster looking for a place to happen.

This is nothing more than a religious issue with them. Maybe she has a mental disorder, I don't know. The thing is, they believe that GOD will determine how many children they are to have, AND that God will also determine the spacing of children. They do not believe in birth control, which is why they they get pregnant so quickly and often.

If you notice, all thier friends, have large families as well.
