I am so angry. Just today about 3 blocks from my house I saw a GANG! Obviously red was their color and they were all hanging out on a front porch on a main road! No it was not in honor of a sports team this was obviously a real GANG! These guys were very scary looking. I found out from a neighbor that the narcotics team is watching that house very closely. UGH!!! Needless to say I called 911 and reported the activity.

Our neighborhood is pretty quiet and it is know as one of the better working class neighborhoods in our city. GRRRRRRRRR!!! I do not want this in my neighborhood or anywhere near it.

Well I called 911 about the gang. I also e-mailed my police department since the messages go to the Police Chief. I also informed my daughter's principal about it with an approximate location...just in case he has students living at or near that home. Of course the police chief encourages me to go to a meeting about gang activity...um I know what one is....I know what they do...and I know how to pick up a phone and drive dispatch crazy with daily calls until it is taken care of.

Not much yet. But we met a guy recently that has a wife that works for the Sheriffs Department. He told me that JNET (narcotics team) is watching the home. I will make it my goal to drive them nuts with calls until it is taken care of. I will drive by on a daily basis to see if they are hanging out there. They are just hanging out on a porch and in a yard that faces one of our main roads to downtown. I was told to go to a town hall educational meeting on the subject.

I know that my DDs Principal is friends with a local officer so I told him what is going on. The house is 2 blocks away from an elementary school and 3 blocks away from the high school.

Wow, that is very scary. I recently watched Gang Wars on Discovery channel, and I guess I am just naive. I never realized that there were really gangs like that. I would be terrified as well.

The gangs here tend not to be to violent. Mostly beating rivals up, selling drugs and breaking into drug houses and such. But still I can't believe that they are just sitting by a main road like that. They also recruit young preteens to steal bicycles either to resell or scrap. I have not seen them venture into my neighborhood yet.

The police chief just gave me the direct line to the police department's administrative line. He said that if I call with an area they will inform the officers responsible for our corner of the city of any activity and dispatch them. Much better than having to call 911 and practically hear the person on the other end rolling their eyes. If you need an officer for any reason (emergency and non emergency) in my area you call 911. I am happy I got the direct line number which is not listed.

I hope the police get rid of them soon.

I guess I don't get how you can really tell it is a gang if all you see is them sitting on a porch?
