Do you remember any of the odd things you or your kids believed when you or they were little?

My younger sister thought that when you flushed the toilet, the dirty water was filtered clean and poured back into the tank. Little sis' was also a big cat lover. One day my mom heard these sounds coming from the bathroom:

Flush
Meow!
Flush
Meeeeooooowww!
Flush
MEEEEOOOOWWW!

When Mom came into the room, she found little sis' holding her kitty in the toilet with one hand and flushing with the other. She had decided to clean her cat by flushing her in the toilet. She figured since it cleaned everything else out of the water, it would clean her kitty too. Mom rescued the kitty and no harm was done. I think the cat avoided the bathroom after that. Mom had to explain how the toilet really worked so sis' wouldn't try and clean anything else that way.

My friend and I decided that the evil neighbor girl was killing animals on my parents farm. We had had a couple of animals die. No reason we thought it was the neighbor girl but we did. We made this huge batch of poison for her. It had rotten eggs. Weed killer. Just about anything we could find to put in it. Not that anyone in their right mind would have ever had drank it had we actually attempted to give it to her.

Hmmmm, I laugh about this now but when I think about it ... we were attempting to figure out a way to poison her. That's kind of bad, isn't it? I'd have a stroke if I went out and found my daughter and her friend mixing a batch of poison up for the neighbor kid.

I would like to note we never actually attempted to even get her to take the poison and that I just saw the neighbor girl the other day meaning she is still alive and well ... though I still don't really like her.
