I will caveat this by saying what I say to my husband "Honey, this is one of those "I just want to be heard, I don't need any solutions" things"

I am so tired of workers at places like Target, et al, who feel it is necessary to discipline my children. We were at Target this morning. My son is a monkey. I avoid taking him to the store whenever remotely possible. He was standing on the front of the cart, facing forward, holding on to the front of the basket while we were waiting in line. I know his capabilities and know he is fine doing that. But when he bent at the waist, I started to tell him to stand up, that it wasn't safe. WHILE I am telling him this, a nearby cashier yells from the next spot over "Don't let him do that!" I am so tired of people doing things like this. It happens all the time here. I have never lived anywhere that people felt like they had the right to do this like here. I know my kids are handfuls but I am actively working on it when they butt in. It doesn't help at all, it just makes me angry! UGH! All I could do today was literally purse my lips to keep from blowing up at her. GRRR

Thanks for listening.

I hate this - it drives me crazy too. You could have a PhD in early childhood education and your kids could act up in Target. It's in their DNA - they are KIDS!!! The want stuff, they are tired, they are hungry or they just plain don't want to be there. You never know why people's kids are acting up - it might drive you crazy, but there has to be some screws loose in your head to think that you should correct someone else's kids.

Now that my older kids are in school all day, I rarely have all of them somewhere like Target, but someone always comes up and says something ridiculous like "you sure have your hands full!" Yeah, thanks for the observation. Crazy people.

I've had both people at Target and WalMart yell about that. I know what my kids are capable of and I also know what will keep them entertained while I finish my shopping. Drives me batty too.

Kinda like the lady in the store who decided to give me a lecture about food habits and DD. DD had earned her reward for the week and got a Happy Meal for grocery shopping day. She was drinking her drink and this lady went off on how I was a horrible parent for letting DD drink what she thought was coke. I should get her milk and not let eat that crap. After she ranted and DD was getting upset, I kindly smiled at her and started to ask her why she was buying all that horrible hormone laden chicken and beef in a very sweet tone. She gave me such a look and then I said, " By the way, she is drinking tea."

People are so rude some times.

Wow, rude. It's not like he was destroying anything.

I don't like strangers sticking their nose in my business either, but I can understand why they would say something. You are in their store using their cart and they do not want to be held responsible for your child getting hurt.

This is exactly what I was thinking. It's probably more that they're worried about your child getting injured on their property and you suing them.

Of course it is. Since when does a large corporation care for individuals? When there is a tax benefit or a lawsuit threat.
