You are so brave to put this out there....I don't know any cross dressers, But one of our customers at farmers market is a trannie, and we have several gay customers and I'm friends with a lesbian couple. I love, love, LOVE these people. I'm totally straight, but love diversity in my life. My gay customers are my favorite because they are so themselves---tough for anyone in this world. I doubt if I knew a cross dresser I would care, although I might take wardrobe advice from them At this stage of my life, I am so beyond caring about peoples 'wrappers'. I mean, I often wear my hair in a bun even though I'm not that old and my friends have told me many times it's not a good look for me---if my friends (and hubby) will ultimately look beyond this to be my friend, I think I would look beyond a male friend in women's shorts with clean shaven legs. Oh, and my kids (5 & 10) don't seem phased in the least by any of this, they just want the people in their lives to be nice.....from the mouths of babes eh?

I have a dear friend who is a female to male transsexual. I met him about mid-way through his gender reassignement, and have never considered him anything but a guy. I've seen pictures of him when he was still a woman, and even then, he wore jeans and a buzz cut.
I know a few guys who like to wear sarongs and skirts. Doesn't make me uncomfortable.

Why would it bother me that my guy friend wears a skirt when it doesn't bother me that his wife wears pants?

Yes. Dh's friend's friend was having the operation to be changed into a woman. This woman (?) was very flamboyant and it was embarrassing. He/she would wear tight short (but big) skirts, and have fake nails super long. His/her makeup looked like a burlesque show and his/her mannerisms were I'm sorry, just embarrassing. Thank goodness ds was too small to remember.

I think if it is tasteful, then who cares. But this Man/woman acted so desperate for attention, so over the top, it was like whatever.
