The thread about the crossdressing children got me wondering. A lot of people said it shouldn't matter about what boys and girls wear, etc...
But I was wondering, who here has ever actually known a crossdressing person? I don't mean seeing one in the store. I mean actually spent time with one? Had a friend or co-worker that was one? Did it make you feel strange or didn't bother you at all? I know most of us say that people are different and looks and lifestyle don't matter, but Really? When you know someone is a little different, don't you feel strange around them? Do you find yourself secretly giving them the side-eye when they weren't looking?

I have a close family member (man) who wears women's shorts and shaves his legs. I have no issues with it and it doesn't make me feel strange. My kids are fine with it too. They knew him before he started dressing this way and I am proud that the first time they saw him like this, they treated it like no big deal.

Is he gay? Or does he just shave? It seems like a lot of guys shave their arms and legs nowadays.

I don't know anyone who cross dresses.

When dd was about 3 and curious. She'd see a man with long hair and ask me if it was a girl or a boy. She "thought" it was a boy by his stature I am assuming, but the long hair threw her off. And no, I didn't teach her boys have short hair, girls have long hair. This is just what she assumed at 3.

So I think if she saw a "man" dressed up as a woman she would be very confused.
Or even a woman who is very manly the confusion would be there.

He's gay. He came out later in life. It really drove home that just because a guy gets married and seems very masculine (i.e. like sports, NASCAR, working on cars, etc) doesn't mean that he might not really be gay and afraid to let people know. Luckily our family loves him for him and really accepted it, so it was a non-issue after a couple of months.

I have several gay friends and a few family members who are gay.

I have a female cousin, that if you didn't know that she was born a girl, you would swear she was a man.

She wears man jeans, and shirts and carries a man wallet. She also has a buzz haircut.

My daughter has always been around her and her partner and doesn't think a thing about it. In fact they help me out a lot when I needed help with the kids.

It doesn't bother me what they wear or how they act, as long as they are not doing something illegal or indecent with minor kids involved.

I am sure I have wore stuff that they wouldn't have been caught dead in

All of my friends and family members that I mention as being gay, are the most tender-hearted carrying people in the world.

And believe me, I have some straight normal people in my family that really need to be in jail.

I've known the whole range- gay men who wear men's clothing, gay men who wear women's clothing, straight men, bi men, women, etc. You get the picture.

Did it make me feel a bit strange to be around them when they were crossdressing? Yes. But I never allowed that to influence my overall regard or feelings for them. Have you ever had a friend who dated someone you didn't like? Have a spouse make a purchase you were unsure of?

You don't have to be in love with everything your loved ones do. You just do your best to let them be the people they are.

My pharmacist's assistant is a cross dresser. From his persona, I assume he is gay (though I can't be for sure).

I also have a cousin who is a lesbian, and about to get married (I live in Vermont where it's now legal). I say to each his own, as long as you keep it in the bedroom (which I say about straight couples as well).

I had male friends in high school who wore skirts. That didn't bother me anymore than anything else they did.

Back in the day we had a few friends that were "drag queens". truthfully, drag queens kind of annoy me. Usually, at least the ones I knew, had better legs in dresses than I ever hoped to , but really they were just over-the-top and too witchy for me to deal with. Too much drama and when they were in drag their ultra ego tended to step out and they weren't very nice people.

I have to admit there. It was interesting watching a normally dressed male go into drag dressing though.
