Default Do you do the 'Boo' tradition in your neighborhood...?

Our neighborhood participates in the "You've Been Boo'ed" tradition of leaving treats for neighbors. It's really so fun!

You make up little treat bags for two (or more) neighbors. We give (and receive) stuff like little bags of cookies, pieces of candy, small toy items etc I buy a lot of stuff at the sales after Halloween the year before - stickers, pencils, spider rings etc I use little tote bags or Halloween themed lunch bags to contain the treats...this year I glammed them up with black tulle to tie the tops, orange tissue paper etc Some folks just use plain brown paper lunch bags - everything goes.

You ring the bell, and then run away, leaving the bag behind - the whole thing is a secret. You leave the "You've Been Boo'ed" Poem and Ghost. If you receive a 'boo bag', you cut out the ghost and put it on your door so others know that you've been "hit". LOL! It's so fun! Then you make up two bags and boo two more neighbors and it just continues on. There is no obligation if you don't feel like continuing the 'boo' by going and buying stuff and picking two neighbors. It's just fun.

This is the poem/print out we leave...lots of info on the tradition on the site.

We do it here - we just got "boo'ed" yesterday which makes it tough - there aren't many homes left. We may have to visit some friends in another neighborhood this year.

My kids were so funny - they didn't want me to put up the sign on our door. They figured that way we could get boo'ed again and get more candy!

That is a neat idea! I have never heard of that before.

Our area is mainly older folk.... do they get involved too or just people with kids and teenagers?

I never heard of it either, but it sounds like fun. I think I'll start it in our neighborhood and see if it catches on.

Speaking as an "older folk" with no kids at home, I'd love to boo and get boo'd back.

I have never heard of this either. It sounds like something fun to start up in my neighborhood as well.

This used to be a really big thing in our neighborhood but I have not seen any houses with the ghost up yet this year. I don't know if it is a sign of the times (economy) or if it just hasn't picked up steam yet! I always love to get booed though and have fun booing others ( I always try to boo some of the newer folks in the neighborhood to make them feel welcome and included). Maybe I just need to get it going myself!!
