I recently wrote post a about not helping a friend financially as help for her international adoption due to decissions that DH and I had made about getting dept free. Well, after MANY months working toward their adoption and $ on their part, it is over. They have become so attached to this little person. Watched him grow through corespondance with the children's home and even help with corrective surgery. They have accepted that they will not be becoming his parents. They cleaned out the blog where they had doccumented every step with journal entries, and pictures. Their children were very attached to the idea too! I just cry for them. Pure heartbreak. If I had $8,000 I would give it to them.
What can I do for her and her family? I know it feels like a death to them.

if i has 8,000 dollars I would give it to them too. This is so sad. Im very sorry. Why did they have to have the money by a dead line if they have already done so much. IS someone else trying to adopt the same child? what if they can still get would they be able to go back and try again?

That is really heartbreaking for everyone involved.

Did the $8000 come up unexpectedly or did they expect to receive some $$$ and it didn't come through? With only $8000, it sounds like they were pretty close to completing the adoption. And I only say "only $8,000" because friends of ours adopted internationally several years ago and it was a little over $30K.

Regardless of what or how it happened, I am very sorry for your friends.

Yes, a dealine was moved up and it blind-sided them, as far as the $ is concerned.

I have never heard of a situation like this. Where you are promised a child and pay for surgery and that kind of thing, and then miss a deadline and love the baby? It sounds horrible. I am so sorry.
