This is pretty neat...I had never heard of it before. While I was bagging my groceries at Aldi yesterday, I saw a book on the ledge of the counter where you "park" to bag groceries. I first thought, "Oops, someone forgot their book"...but upon further investigation I discovered that the book had labels on the cover that said, "Free book! Look inside cover!" On the inside, there was a book plate that explained the labels. There is a website called www.bookcrossing.com. Should you ever find a book with these labels, you can go to the site to see where all the book has been (mine has been to Georgia, Texas and Kentucky now), make a journal entry about the book and post where the book is now and what you plan to do with it or have done with it (they call releasing it back into the wild!). There is also a place where you can start a journal on a book and you can also order labels to put on and inside the books you put out for circulation. If you can't afford the labels, you can also print them off of their site. I can't wait to read mine and pass it on....and I thought it was a fun and interesting way to pass on a small random act of kindness!

I worked with a really amazing woman who did this while she traveled. She woud read on the plane and/or during her trip, then leave the book somewhere (in the airport, at a restaurant etc...) for someone to find. I always thought it was a really cool thing...

I don't read much fiction.. if I do perhaps I'll pass on a book sometime

I've never heard of this...although I do always leave my books behind if I finish one in a hotel, at the drs. office, etc. I also try to turn them into Goodwill instead of just tossing them. That is where I buy most of my books to begin with, too! I will keep an eye out for this..and look up the site. That is neat.

This has been around for awhile. I haven't tried it, i guess in this small town if you tried to leave a book behind, they would chase you out of the store to catch up with you and tell you ' hey you forgot your book'. lol
