Hi all,
Well after many, many months of horribly painful periods that last nearly 10 days and many tests including biopsys, my obgyn has suggested I have an endometrial ablation done. I have been reading up on it and it is basically, they put me to sleep, insert a ballon type thing and then BURN the lining of my uterus. OK, this sounds painful. and the doc says it only has about a 50% chance of working for me. so he said I have 3 options, this, a hysterectomy, or deal with it. I can't deal with it anymore, wayyy too painful. and I am only 25 i don't want a hysterctomy. so i guess, i just wanted to know if anyone has ever had one of these, or heard or them? thanks, and sorry so long...

I have had two to date - at the time I had Kaiser (whole other story) and they did it in house, and I was able to go home a few hours later. It kinda felt like I was having a miscarriage - sharp contracting pains - but they send you home with a painkiller, so it dulls it, and it lasts about 2-3 days.

I have horrible bleeding issues - sometimes bleeding for months at a time - literally day in and day out. Mostly it's clots, and we're not talking dime size either - these are scary looking.

My husband and I just switched from Kaiser to a high end ppo with United Care, so I'm searching in my area for a good ogbyn and endo/hormone expert that can figure out what's going on with my body.

I have to say, and I don't know if it's just a coincidence - but since losing weight, for the last 3 months, I now seem to have a period every month, that lasts for about 10 days -- still better than bleeding every day, but not great!

I'm just curious - but are you overweight at all?

Do NOT have a hysterectomy -- they are way over-prescribed and you are too young to go through the change of life, and be on hormones etc., not to mention, you may decide later in life that you would like to try to have your own children!!!

Hope you feel better soon,
