My bil and sil did it again. They showed up 45 minutes late to my dd bday party yesterday and then made a spectacle. We had a pool party and I had just told everybody eat pizza when you get hungry and we will do cake at 7. Well bil and sil show up at 6:45 and go straight to eating pizza (they never pass on a free meal but thats a totally different post) Then get in the water well by this time its 7. I tell everyone its cake time and sil is like great you would have to wait until I get in the water to do cake andf goes on to tell her kids its ok they dont have to get out they can have cake later. Maybe Im being too hard but if you are invited to a birthday shouldnt you try to participate with the party not just show up eat have some fun and leave? My dh went over and said everyone out of the pool and they did come over to sing to my dd but its not the first time they have pulled stuff like this nor will it be the last. My other dd bday is in 3 weeks and its a tea party so if they are late they will just have to watch because I am not going to be able to accomodate them . Thanks for letting me vent

People are so rude, and unfortunately, family can be the worst! I love having family gatherings but then again, I HATE them....double edged sword. Sorry to hear about it but I am sure the party was wonderful anyway!

that is the rudest thing. dr phil says that lateness is the ultimate sign of how selfish and self absorbed that person/s is/are, that they don't care about the feelings of others. and it is so true. if your late because of a good reason thats one thing, but if you just don't feel like showing up on time tht is ignorant.

Can you start telling them the party is 1 hr sooner? I'm going to start doing that w/my inlaws. My sil is ALWAYS late to parties, so now my family has started it cuz they know she will be late. At Katie's party in April, she started opening presents right when the party was suppose to start. I'm not going to punish my kids anymore because of sil's inconsiderateness.

I agree. It was very rude of them to just expect you to cahnge things for them. I hope your dd had a great party inspite of their actions.

grrrrrrrrrrrr! How frustrating! The passive/agressive side of me would have let them stay in the pool and then put the cake away after eveyone else had been served. No I wouldn't really do that, but in my head it would be so satisfying!
