MAJOR MOVING UPDATE! (sorry long, it was a Twilight Zone Day!)

Sunday morning I got a phone call from my SIL asking if there way anyway I could borrow our friend's truck and trailer to help move because my SIL and both brothers would be able to help us move. This was a totally awesome surprise so of course I called and got the additional truck!

My cousin brought over his truck and his wife (the one who's wedding I was Day Of Coordinator for last summer) so that was even more help. This was turnign out awesome and I went and got a great spread of food and sodas. Yes it was hot but everyone was pitching in so it was all good. It did take a little longer to load up because of the heat. No biggie, right?

Just as we get the last car loaded (this was after the 2 trucks, large trailer and another fully loaded sedan) my phone rang. It was our friend Steph and I told her don't worry, we're still coming. All of the sudden she starts crying! Like sobbing! I get her to calm down enough to talk to me and she tells me that she just got off the phone with her lawyer and because her realtor is a dumb idiot who didn't put an end date in a purchase agreement for her home (she had been trying to seel it but her and her realtor finally agreed to take it off the market) the same buyers who had failed to be able to close 2 times can now come back and have requested a 3rd close! Steph's lawyer said that if she ignored the close (what her realtor said to do) that she would be held in contempt of court and if she refused to turn over the house she would be arrested!

OMG! WTF?? We felt totally bad for her but were also like, what the heck do we do now?? We were all packed and no one had the heart to unpack it. I wa thinking that maybe we should take all of our stuff up to her place, unload it and then I'd just hire a Pod to come in and store all our stuff. Bu I was so heartbroken...just minutes befoe I had told my SIL and cousin how excited I was to unpack my dishes and glasswear and to use my own stuff again. I was just about to start crying when my cousin Adam walked in.

He asked what was wrong and his wife tried to tell him. He walked out of the room and got on his phone. When he came back in I asked him if they still had a rental unit available in the Apt. complex that he manages for my uncle. He said he had just been on the phone making sure. I asked if his dad would let us move in w/o a deposit (the apt is $125 more than what I had budgeted for the high end) and he smiled and said it wasn't up to his dad, it was up to him. =)

He then got on the phone to see what other units might be available around the cities so that we could reduce my Adam's commute. Their's was the best. Now...keep in mind we had NEVER seen the apartments!! I always met Angie at my aunt's or called her for wedding stuff cuz we were in Eau Claire! Also, the people had just moved out yesterday and he hadn't checked the apartment yet but we could at least store our stuff there until it got cleaned. So off to Newport, MN we caravaned to see our new place. Keep in mind this is on the absolute opposite end of the Twin Cities than where we were supposed to live.

Really nice complex, big garage underneath our unit. Really cute! But...when we opened the door of the garage we were overwhelmed with the smell of cat pi$$! And when we went inside the unit (3 br, big kitchen...lot of potential) they had trashed it! We're talkign garbage everywhere, food all over...3 dozen egs with only the top portion broken off and NOTHING inside were found in the cabinet abouve the stove!!! SO GROSS!!! We even found cat poop on the walls!

So after ove an hour of srubbing the living room we finally got an area clean enough to drop the boxes. My cousin is hiring a cleaning crew to come in and disinfect the place. He might even have to get the appliances replaced and will for sure have to replace cabinets, doors, fixtures, repaint and possibly even replace the carpet!

BUT...we have a place to live and it will be nice when we get it all cleaned up. But WHAT a roller coaster ride!! It was so surreal my Adam said it felt like the Twilight Zone!!

Sounds like a day from ####. It sounds like everything will work out though since you got your own place.

Now we just hav eto figure out how to afford it! I'm going to call my attorney today and tell him that I need an update fast because we won't be able to afford all the co-pays on my meds when we move! I'm also going to go in and apply for disability and SS. But my lawyer said that could take as long as it takes to get a hearing date.

My one brother is going to stay with us for a month or two and that should be able to give me time to move $$ around and to save some. But NO MORE eating out for either of us (although Adam is far worse becuase his work eats out everyday) and no more impulse buys. I'm even thinking of locking our cards away and paying cash for everything. It's just that we both go through it so fast. Grr....but I have to get us on track! I have to make this work.

Now that's what I call light at the end of the long tunnel. Good to hear things worked out well. Not the way you had planned, but well.

Good Luck! It will be hard to get used to a budget and not eating out and things but it should get easier if you get used to it.

I am going to sell some things. I've got a breakfast bar i got fromPettery Barn when I worked there a few years ago. It's super nice but has been in storage forever and I have no idea when or wher eI will even use it. We are also going to sell off our washer and dryer. DH finally agred that it makes no sense to keep them in storage just to move them with us. But I think all of that stuff will have to be craigslist because it's so heavy!

But I know that it will all work out. IT HAS TO!!!
