I am sitting here smoking what will hopefully be my last cigarett. I am committed to quitting starting tomorrow. I have armed myself with the patch, gum, mints, and a resolve that this habit is to expensive and disgusting to continue. I am so scared. I can do this I know I can. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Good for you. I used to smoke and everyone who has quit has a little story about how they did it. Mine, I would get a little nervouse whenever I was only down to a half a pack. So when I decided to quit I didn't throw them away I kept them around for security. I had to make sure I substitued something for the ciggerettes which was food not a good choice but I needed the hand to mouth that ciggerettes gave me. I kept an index card with me that listed all the reasons I wanted to quit and I would read it when I felt the urge to smoke. You are making the best choice to quit. Be strong!!!

Oh and as an incentive, open a savings account in which you deposit the amount of money you would spent on a package of cigarettes each week. Take that amount and put it in the bank. Look at the balance in six months. You will be amazed!! My parents were able to take a trip to Hawaii three years after their quitting date.

I know this is going to sound harsh but think about how much better you will smell to other ppl once you quit. I smoked for about 5 years before I quit and I am still amazed at what smokers smell like- and what their children smell like. Good luck and remind yourself that you can get through this.

You're armed with some good substitutes. I kept telling my dh that he needed to get a stress ball or hold onto straw. Your hands still need the substitution too.
