I told the boys' sitter yesterday that I'll be putting them in daycare when I switch to day shift. They have been with her for a year this month. All I have wanted to do is cry since I dropped the boys' off yesterday. I know it's what we need to do for our family at the moment even though it will be a greater expense. I just didn't expect it to be this damn hard.

She's in her 60's and only watches my boys' from 2-530 when dh gets off work. It would also be a logistical nightmare. Oldest DS goes to preschool where they are going to go to daycare. On Mondays he has school from 9-12; I have to pick him up from 12-1230 then he goes back for a spanish class from 1230-100. On Wednesdays he has school from 9-12; I pick him up until 130 then he goes back for a computer lab from 130-150. The cost of everything but the Spanish class is rolled into the daycare fees at no extra cost.

She used to just watch the boys a couple of days a week but when I went to afternoon shift it bumped up to 4 days a week. She was trepiditious about watching them that many days a week. I honestly don't think she'd be very willing to watch them M-F from 830-430. I just wish it were easier to let go.

I feel you're pain! I had an awful time when I took my DD's out of their preschool when I started staying at home. My oldest had been there a year and a half and my youngest had started 6 months before she left. Those teachers were great! I felt really good leaving my girls there because I knew they were well cared for...it just killed me when they had to leave!

As with all experienced caregivers...she'll understand your situation! I remember, Ms. Sara (DD's teacher) hugging me and say everything will work out for the better! I'll always remember that! HUGS!
