I have been researching and planning a job I can do from home. I'm ready to take the dive, the catch is that baby number 4 is due in 6 weeks! I guess my question is, Should I go ahead and start working or wait until after the baby gets here? If I wait, how long? You would think after three kids I could answer that myself. Has anyone else started a business when expecting a baby?
What I've been working on is a local newsletter for parents with kids at home. It will contain things to do with kids in the area, kids activity pages, birthday party ideas and lots of other info about community activities. I've developed the format, determined costs, everything. The only thing left to do is to get advertisers. I plan on the advertising paying for the printing costs and my paycheck. I want it to be free so that those that are watching the bottom line don't miss out.
Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Can you maybe do at least part of the work on the six weeks you might be out, NOW?? That would help you a lot on the "unknowns" of what life will be like right after the baby is born. I know that ith most of my kids, I bounced back quick, but with number five, I had unforseen major complications...and I spent the better part of her first month in the hospital! I think it CAN be done..IF you can do part of it beforehand!

I agree with Blessedwith6. I would start now. I started my business when I was pregnant and even went full speed right before he was born so I could hit the next management level. You never know what will come up after the baby is born so I would do as much as you can now (without overdoing it) so you can enjoy more of your time with the baby once he/she is born.

I was thinking the same thing . . . about doing as much as I can before the baby gets here. My husband seems to think anytime is fine. Of course he's not the one at home all day so. . .

This is something I came up with last Summer and have been planning and designing every since.
Thank you for a 'mommy' perspective.

That is such a great idea. I wish that they had something like this in our local news paper. The lack of things to around town for parents is way out of hand. If I had more ideas, myself I would talk to the local newpaper

I agree it's needed. BabyZone has this feature, but in truth, the person who does it for our area isn't very good. The info is too general and not complete or just has too many errors. I thought of doing this, but gosh, with a baby, got too busy. You're also right about getting advertisers to pay for it, UNLESS you were to do a feature reviewing the local places, including bad w/good, whereas the readers could pay.
