Sorry this is going to be a whine/vent post- be forewarned!

After dropping the youngest at preschool today- I tried heading off to Aldi's to pick up a few groceries. The Blazer was running fine- no problems then someone pulled out in front of me (I was go 60mph- in a 50mph- I know my bad), only to turn 20 feet further down the road ! So basically I was slowing down (of course had the radio blaring!) and had to promptly stop- I thought I heard one of those "rice burner" (sorry don't know what the correct term is- that is what my DH calls them- you know the ones that have the "whinning" sounding exhaust) vehicles and it was getting louder the more my vehicle stopped. Well I turned down the radio and realized it was my vehicle making the noise ! I drove about a 1/2 mile down the road and stopped at the gas station to quickly look over my vehicle- did not see anything wrong- just a bit of a burning smell. Well I decided I would drive to my mom's house (my Pap's garage is located on her property) if it would make it. I was praying the whole way to her house (about 15 miles from where I was) and eventually the whinning noise weared down and heard a little "pop" and then it did not come back! It drove perfectly fine the whole time this niose was going on and the last 10 miles I drove it did not make the noise at all! I don't know what is going on- I just have that lurking suspsion that it is either our tranny or engine! I told my DH about it this afternoon his only comment was oh ****! So I know it can't be a good thing!

This just really stinks! It only has a little over 90,000 miles and gave us no problems til now ! Please pray that my dh can fix it and that it won't cost a lot of money!

Boy does this ever sound to familiar! I have an explorer that I bought about 6 months ago from a girlfriend. Granted, it had 163K miles on it, but she only wanted $1500 and it needed about $800 in repairs to fix everything that my mechanic found. Well, about 2 months after I got all the repairs made, it made this really high pitch sound that sounded like the speedometer cable had been wound really really tight and when I let off the accelarator it was winding down. Well, I could make it happen by going down a hill and put my foot on the break and to slow down and it would make it. Well, the mechanic searched high and low, and ruled out everything BUT the transmission. So, he tore into it and couldn't find a single problem. He put it back together, same noise. He actually found it....it was in the transmission....but it was some ring or something. So, I basically got a rebuilt transmission for about $400. So, I hope your problem is an easy fix and doesn't cost a lot!

Ugh! I hate car problems!

About one year ago, my car decided to make a whining-type sound. My check engine light eventually came on. Turns out it was only a bad sensor. It's been fine since we replaced the sensor. I'm hoping that it will be something as easily fixable on your Blazer.

Now if I can just figure out why there are mysterious, intermittent clicking sounds coming from my steering column...

Dont know much about cars but have you checked the steering fluid level? Maybe your out. Just a thought...... Im bad about checking the levels of things in the car. I always tell dh to make sure that he does it otherwise I will forget. Besides I wouldnt know what needs to be checked anyway.

Thanks for the advice. The power steering fluid level is fine. This clicking noise happens inside the car right after put it in gear. It will make 2 or 3 little "click, click" sounds then be as quiet as a mouse. I'm usually pretty good about figuring out what's wrong with a car, but this one has me baffled. I guess I'm going to have to Google my problem and see if there is anyone else who has dealt with this. I always get cars with weird problems.
