Ladies who use Turbo Tax
I just went on it for the first time and liked it, it looked fairly simple to use.

I have a question, I would need to use the delux version since we bought a house in 2006, we sold in 2005, so dont have to worry about that. But when you file, do you mail in supporting documents like your W2, town taxes, interest statements? how does the IRS know about them? do they just take your word for it?
I think even if you do them by mail you dont mail your W-2's in either right?

did i just answer my own question?

i don't know the answer to your house question but i use Turbo Tax online and its super easy. You don't have to mail your W2's and you can e-file and have you refund depoisted into your bank account which is much faster than waitting for the check in the mail. The fees aren't too high for their online services. I hope this helps you!

I just file mine when I print off everything. If you are ever audited, they will want it, but otherwise, no, you don't send them in.

I think you DO end up mailing your documents...but it is a SUPER easy program..takes you step by step AND is quick on getting your refund. Dh and I itemize due to business expenses. Last year, we moved with the company paying 80% of it, sold a house, closed a business, and a few other things...and Turbo Tax walked us right through it all. We paid someone one year to do it with similiar circumstances...and I really think Turbo Tax got us as good of a return!

No, really, you don't send in your documents. They tell you at the end of the program, if you choose to sign electronically, to keep them with your return printout, but not to send them in. Your electronic signature is considered enough at this point. I have been using Turbo Tax since 1998 when we were first married and have never mailed in my stuff. I have them all in each year's file. In 2001, we sold and bought a house, moved, got reimbursed by the government (part in 2001, part in 2002) and have always used Turbo Tax.

Again, if you are audited for any reason, you better have your W2's your 1099s and all your receipts and such, but that is the case whether you mailed them in or not.

That is another bonus of doing Turbo Tax.

That's how I have done it for the past 5 years.
