Every St. Patricks Day the nonprofit St. Baldrick's Foundation hosts hundreds of head-shaving events around the country to spread awareness of childhood cancer and raise money for research. Since 2000, more than 26,000 people have asked friends and family to sponser them to lose their locks-and more than 2,000 were women.
